Letting me do self-checkout at Walmart is a bad idea. I’m not a thief, but I’m a horrible cashier. Maybe they should have given me training before they set me loose with a scanner.

absolutely correct. If you accidentally scan something twice, you still have to pay for it twice, then go to the service desk for a refund.
