RIP
Nobody gets out alive my friend.
It is infact all about how we play the game while we’re here.
Tom Landry once said of Reeves, “If you needed three yards, Dan would give you three. If you needed four yards, Dan would give you three.”
He should have been the successor to Tom Landry.
A really good guy. I met him once.
Since he passed in 2021 during the pandemic Dr. Fauxi marked up another COVID related death.
The old guard passing away. :( Madden, Reeves...
How do you lose that many Superbowls with Elway?
RID Dan Reeves.
The ball control offense and dominant pressure defense brought to the game by teams like Washington, Chicago, the New York Giants and Dallas really made AFC teams like Denver and Buffalo look inept. San Francisco was the only exception to this standard in those days, and even that team was far stronger defensively than they got credit for.
I remember thinking at the time that the Cleveland Brown were the one top AFC team of the late 1980s that played an NFC-style game, and would have stood the best chance of beating those NFC teams in a Super Bowl.
How do you lose that many Superbowls with Elway
Just one Super Bowl loss?
Some games were were with Dallas one was with Atlanta, only one was with Elway
Wrong 3 Super Bowl Losses with Elway
RIP.
He made a big running back(Anderson) the league MVP I do believe. Next year Anderson wanted a huge pay raise and Reeves wanted to trade him. That took balls. Anderson got the big money and tore up a knee(non contact) early in the season. My hindsight is always 20-20 but I would have treated todays ballplayers like Charley O’Finley did.
One of my favorite plays was Meredith, to Reeves to Hayes going down the sideline. Those were the day’s!
Chuck Howley
Leroy Jordan.
Bob Lilly.
Jethro Pugh.
Walt Garrison.
Pete Gent.
Don Meredith.
Dan Reeves.
Bob Hayes.
Lance Rentzel.
So many great players on one team. Yea I’m that old.
That was Walt Garrison he was talking about.
“Never let ‘em see you sweat!”
-RIP Dan
Pretty much down now to Bud Grant and Marv Levy, both in their 90s.
From the 80s, you have Joe Gibbs and The Tuna, still kicking.
Not a football fan. But we went to a church which Dan started attending.
People didn’t glom onto him like he was a star or important. Dan certainly had some problems over the last 20 something years.
RIP - glad to know you are at home with Jesus.
On second thought Anderson deserved the money. 5th year. Still I wood traded him. Let someone else pay him in his age 27 season. NFL is now on to the short shelf life of rb’s.
