Just watching the end of a 3 Stooges video on YT at 1:08 a.m. when it hit . Biggest one we've had since the 2 giant quakes that caused death and destruction almost 6 years ago . Rocked all of Kyushu and parts of eastern Honshu . Sure it'll make the US TV news today . We're ok here in Kumamoto , just a little shaken up . Finishing my Suntory beer before trying to get some sleep . It's almost 2 a.m.

最大震度5強の地震

Pretty heavy quake, but not severe. It looks like it was right under an island I stayed at several years ago called Uguru-shima.

Was only in a mild quake one time.
Didn’t even know it until I heard it in news radio.
Was such a weird feeling.
Thought maybe I was having a mild heart attack.

The easy, back and forth quakes usually didn’t cause harm or damage.
It was the big up and down movements that could derail traffic.

Give me tornadoes any day over an earthquake. Never been in one, don’t want to be.
