LOVE Dolly’s version. Not so fond of Whitney’s. She hits a couple of notes that grate on my ears, and tries too hard. The lazy singer’s mouth induced tremolo is pretty annoying as well.

Have you heard her sing “Jesus Loves Me”? That’s a good one too. Her version of the Star Spangled Banner is considered one of the best of all time. Sounds like she had a hard personal life, too bad she’s gone.
Sad to think that child is also no longer with us.
I loved Dolly’s rendition in ‘Best Little Whore House’. Houston’s version was so overplayed and The Bodyguard was terrible.

One of the most annoying songs of all time. Sorry.
She had a good voice. But I really blame her for opening an era in which female singers focus on vocal gymnastics with little regard for interesting music. Although their stuff can be pleasant, Houston, Mariah Carey, Katy Perry, Adele, and plenty of others just sing impressively while (often) a thumping back beat is about all that accompanies them.

I still wonder why Dolly wrote this song. Her marriage is kind of “strange”. Perhaps a “I’m sorry for something”?
