Ukraine’s closed Chernobyl nuclear power plant has been disconnected from the nation’s power grid by Russian forces, Ukraine’s state-owned grid operator Ukrenergo said Wednesday, potentially jeopardizing the cooling of nuclear material still stored at the site.
“Because of military actions of Russian occupiers the nuclear power plant in Chornobyl was fully disconnected from the power grid. The nuclear station has no power supply,” Ukrenergo said in a statement on its official Telegram page, using Ukraine’s spelling for the plant.
Electricity is needed for cooling, ventilation and fire extinguishing systems at the closed site. In a statement on its Facebook page, Ukrenergo also said emergency diesel generators have been turned on but that fuel would last for only 48 hours.

Did they mention the globalists’ desperation to hide evidence of crimes against humanity?
Spent fuel that’s been in a pool for 30 plus years will have minimal decay heat. It’s not zero. Buts it’s not the end of the world either.
I never realized the Chernobyl plant kept running after the disaster in 1986. I thought that whole area was off limits to people for any length of time.
Are they running a different plant under the same name?
What a RIOT!
Ukraine cannot perform “urgent repairs”, since Russia has taken over Chernobyl, and probably has no intention of allowing Ukrainian Deep State operatives anywhere on the site. Any “repairs” those operatives would perform would be highly suspect.
you can’t just switch it off...
it’s still producing heat that needs to be removed.
Nor did I but I knew it was a hot zone.
what if this is intended??
it is basically a dirty bomb if it blows again.
Timed to take away attention from the omnibus bill...?
So let’s wait 48 hours and see what happens? If I see Ukrainians running for the boarder and leaving the Russians there I know something is up and it’s not the Ukrainians. (pun intended)
There are three other plants there operating — same design. Do keep in mind that although the reactors are typically of a bad Russian design, the disaster was because bureaucrats who had no business being in charge of STEM issues demanded that an unsafe test go ahead — and they blew the plant apart. Just like TMIsland, where cowboys from the US Navy decided to violate manufacturer’s warnings — “Cause THEY are in charge here, dammit (full speed ahead)”.
The HBO series, Chernobyl is worth watching. A treatise on Soviet accomplishments...
Bad news for Russia, Baltic states and Northern Europe. Fortunately, the prevailing winds run west to east.
Yah, that fuel is cold as a rock left out inna sun.
Did a study for the NSA back when the USSR fell apart and there was serious concern that nuke plant operators could get some money (since they weren’t being paid anymore) by selling old spent fuel to terrorists.
We looked at data from our own spent fuel, that had been in wet storage for years. Found that it was so cool (warm to touch, no burns) that a couple of guys could boost a few fuel elements in the back of a panel truck. Not much radiation, either.
As to Chernoble (sp?) there is back up diesel (oh, golly, global warming via fossil fuel!!!) for a day or two. Even Russians aren’t stupid enough to have missed that detail. This could go on indefinitely so long as diesel can be trucked in to refuel — just don’t tell Kerry. As to being off the grid, unless one of the three units is allowed to start up and push power out (they can’t generally operate at low enough power to just provide cooling) to the grid then they need to pull power in to continue cooling past the point when they run out of diesel.
None of the reactors at Chernobyl are active.
They’ve been shut down for years.
The media is lying to you.

Uou got it backwards
Pretty much.
Final reactor operation ceased at the Chernobyl site on December 15 2000.
The other three Chernobyl reactors were shutdown years ago. There are 8 operating RBMK reactors currently; all are in Russia.
