It’s been several years but I believe Pat Buchanan did a good job discussing the Frankfurters in the book DEATH OF THE WEST.

Yeah frankfurt school Critical Theory was dominant at columbia U when I was there in the 70’s and 80’s. The step child of Critical Theory is Critical Race Theory. It was invented by a Harvard Professor in 1992. (could be wrong about the date.)
Together they work to change the USA into a third world hell hole ruled by unelected unaccoutable and faceless bureaucrats whose primary skill is following the party line. Otherwise, they’re totally incompetant.

Blame whoever or whatever you like. The fact is that the West has voluntarily committed cultural suicide. Be it widespread drug use, abortion, neo pagan earth and celebrity worship, the acceptance of homosexuality and all its permutations, and self serving hedonism, the decadence has taken its toll. Western culture despite its accomplishments will not be the first such civilization to erode and eventually vanish.
The Founders only allowed people with a vested interest in the nation’s success to vote. One of the downsides of universal suffrage is that the nation’s internal enemies get to vote too. And serve in Congress and the White House.... AOC, Garland, Psaki, etc.

Any human civilization is composed of individuals who have a free will. If you concede that free will really does not exist or that individual or societal outcomes, good or bad, are not the result of the exercise of free will, then the Left has no need of the Frankfurt group or anyone else. They will have won.
Not so. The knew that there were always men dreaming of being tyrants and that a foolish mob of greedy idiots could empower them to it. It happened in ancient Rome and they certainly knew their Roman history.

For context, Franklin also said this regarding the Presidency:

I think a man like Fanklin would be surprised we made it this far. The near-perfect system he and his peers put in place let it be so, but that slight imperfection, the one that presumed that the government would be of the people and not a permanent class of professional bureaucrats and politicians, is dooming it.

Thank you so much for posting this. I think this is a fantastic documentary and it gets across a lot of important information in a short 30 minutes. I’ve listened to a lot of podcasts from James Lindsay, but not everyone has the mind for that sort of scholarly depth or detail, but it’s very complicated stuff. Who was the documentarian? Do you know?
I’m fighting all of this stuff in our schools right now and have many serious concerns. Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is the vehicle that is delivering all of this nonsense: CRT, CSE, etc.
