A 27-year-old Grand Rapids man has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the shooting death of his roommate, a killing that testimony showed involved a dispute over a Playstation controller.
Devan James Cole pleaded guilty to the murder charge and felony firearm on Monday, March 21 in Kent County Circuit Court.

A charge of open murder will be dismissed at his June 1 sentencing.
Testimony at an earlier hearing showed that Cole and the victim, 27-year-old Anthony Crump, lived in the same Veto Street NW rental house.
Crump allegedly was upset because Cole had not returned a Playstation controller. He banged on Cole’s bedroom door and threatened to beat him up, according to testimony from Crump’s girlfriend.
A person who was inside Cole’s bedroom wanted out. As she opened the door and left, Crump pushed his way in.
Shots rang out moments later. Crump was shot seven times.
Cole’s attorney argued self-defense at the earlier hearing.
As part of a plea agreement, Cole is expected to receive a minimum 10-year prison sentence on the murder charge. The felony firearm charge carries a mandatory two-year sentence consecutive to the other sentence.
Don’t really know where to start on this.
Theres a bigger backstory to it.
Not mentioning it to justify it, just it was probably the latest event that was a boiling point. Same thing with when a neighbor goes after another after a number of years.
A 27 year old "man" shot another 27 year old "man" seven times, after doing a home invasion. Of course, it happened on Veto Street, which in GR is one of the places such a thing might happen. BTW, the street got its name because none of the other names that had been suggested could muster a majority of votes from the board.
All our games were destroyed in the fire . . .
Jus’ sayin’ . . .
Is that a Rand Paul reference?
I have been in Grand Rapids for a while but I don’t remember that kind of thing happening there.
No. But now that you bring it up, it’s one example.
More like the children the left-wing society is turning out who think everything is about them and not even human life is sacred anymore...
27 Y/O CHILDREN fighting over a game.
Neither was employable.
