Since the premiere of real-life criminal drama shows "The Dropout" and "Inventing Anna," America has become enraptured with the stories of Elizabeth Holmes and Anna Sorokin. Each series resulted in numerous hot takes on social media, with discourse around how two women managed to dupe the country's "elite" and heads of multi-million dollar companies, using what turned out to be elaborate schemes.
We are not here to discuss whether the victims of these scams deserved their fates, or whether the consequences matched the crime, but rather illuminate one fact that has become clear with these stories: these women were only able to execute scams of this magnitude because of the way they look. It simply would not have been possible had they been Black.

I tend to view these claims through the lens of Hitchen's Razor: What is asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.
I had to read the article to learn that it was miss titled by the author. The correct title would be "How Outdated Beauty Standards Being White Fueled Elizabeth Holmes and Anna Sorokin's Scams."
I like that, never heard of that one.

JFC. That’s not true at all.
They got away with for so long it because they played the part. They weaved truth into the lies, walked, talked, and spent like they had money to burn. They were also at least somewhat attractive, which is the main driver. I’ve seen many beautiful dark skinned women around here (Chicago), but even I couldn’t be as manipulative as these two women, and I’m a decent liar; not like I have cause to at the moment.
Those women at least bordered on the psychopathic, with such little regard for others and willing to ruin anyone if it made them successful.
One should note thay the vast majority of the scammed were male. If the ladies were guys instead, their chances of success would be much lower, I think simply because of male competition within elite circles and that the scammed had been swayed by appearance and apparent competence.
It’s funny how this supposed “white privilege” doesn’t seem to keep other minorities down.
Asians often come here without a penny to their name, and often can’t even speak the language, and yet, their children will often outperform all other races fairly consistently on standardized tests.
How come this supposed “white privilege” doesn’t keep them down also?

Somehow, I think no matter HOW much they repeat this drivel, men will not change.
So, if most rich men had to choose between Beyonce’ or Rosie O’Donnell they’d pick Rosie because she’s white and Beyonce’ doesn’t match some outdated image of Eurocentric beauty? Good that leaves more Beyoncesque women for me.
