“Statins have been suspected as a cause for ALS for quite some time now.”

I was on several versions of Statins.
First one, then another, as they tried to get me adjusted.
Instead, I looked, “like a drunk sailor who managed to hit every bar,” per the observation of one of my doctors.
It’s a nasty side effect .... muscle and skeletal issues...
So now I am on a Tier 4 medication and paying for it fully out of pocket.
I’ve tried to get my beloved off of Statins; his doctor, for some reason wants him to continue with what particular one he is on at the moment.
It only took probably a week, TWO weeks at the top on the new medication and I could walk properly (use a cane for other reasons) and haven’t fallen yet in the shower.... Can also close my eyes and not fall....it made a damn big difference.
The Statins (whatever the full line is called) is now in my medical records as something I cannot use.
I'm sorry to hear you a bad experience with statins. I know statins are not well tolerated by many people. I take a statin along with CoQ10. Side effects have been minimal/tolerable. There is no doubt that my statin corrects my cholesterol levels, which are high due to genetics not diet. My cholesterol numbers with a statin could not be better.
What we see today with many prescriptions are potential high risks and side effects. Doctors tell us that the benefits of prescription drugs outweigh the risks.
Only the individual can determine whether a drug "is worth taking". My doctor does not have the last say in what drugs I take, I do. If the side effects are too bad, like you, I will just say no.
