The Minnesota Board of Animal Health (BAH) has announced the discovery of Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus 2 (RHDV2) in a group of pet rabbits in Hennepin County.
Four pet rabbits from a group of eight are dead, BAH officials said.
One of the deceased rabbits displayed lethargic behavior before death, and its carcass was taken to the University of Minnesota Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory for analysis. The positive result was also confirmed by a U.S. Department of Agriculture lab.
The surviving rabbits at the Hennepin County home are being quarantined and monitored for symptoms.
Animal health officials say that there is a vaccine available for pet rabbits to prevent RHDV2. However, none of the rabbits in the colony had received the vaccine.
The disease affects both domestic and wild rabbits but poses no risk to humans, authorities say.
More information about the disease and how to keep your pet rabbits safe can be found here.
Time to mask up and get your shots.
There are no apples on the trees this year! Time to panic! Mask up everyone!
My part of Florida is being overrun with rabbits.
They are cute, but their mouths move for hours at a time each day as they normally eat grass.
They damage the bark of saplings and shrubs and have eaten many caladium shoots. They have killed some of my camelias.
In related news, Dr. Fauci had the infected rabbit frozen and shipped to the Wuhan lab for further research and testing. Some authorities questioned why rabbits routinely sold at a nearby wet market were insufficient.
We found a nest with five bunnies in our garden a couple months ago. Though we knew where it was and had handled a couple of them, the mother apparently continued to take care of them, because they continued to grow.
We finally pulled them out and put them in a cage when they were about the size of baseballs. A couple weeks later I released them and they are running around the yard, almost like pets. You can get within a few feet of them and they just stare at you, and continue eating while you watch them. And my maltipoo LOVES chasing them.
Poor little guys. Rabbjts always display lethargic behavior, as though they just smoked a joint. Hopefully, the owner had the Rabbit pen outside or some distance from the people.
Just make sure it’s not something like the bubonic plague. Every so often that is detected in animal who live around us.
Lol! I love the Masked Wabbit photo.
Oh, no! How many Leftist states will declare a state of emergency?
(The corrupt elites LOVE disasters. "Never let a crisis go to waste." Note tagline.)

In my area of NC, all of the rabbits have vanished. I believe the victim of a virus disease — rabbit hemorrhagic disease. No threat to humans. We would always see rabbits running in the yard, but no more, for two years now. I miss the little guys.
“The disease affects both domestic and wild rabbits but poses no risk to humans, authorities say.”
Not sure I believe that.
Just remember folks, it’s never a good idea to eat animals that are unhealthy or die for illness.
Don’t automatically believe anything Deep State peddles.
Right you are.
Nor do I.
Decades ago, studies in Texas found that 12 cottontails will eat as much as a cow. Night time spotlighting rabbits has been a common thing.
About 140 years ago in W. Texas, the rabbit population exploded with the critters eating every blade of grass and rabbit roundups where common. Those that killed the rabbits were known as Rabbit Twisters.
One W. Texas town has a slogan, Home Of The Rabbit Twisters. *Robert Lee, Texas.
Does that mean rabbits will have to mail in their ballots this fall?
