I am going out to the woods and smoke.....
Its Smokey THE Bear. Smokey The Bear. The science is settled.
The oldest black bear lived to be 39 in the wild.
Smokey is twice that which shows that a diet of cigarettes, beer and honey is very healthy.

Smokey the Bear
Smokey the Bear
Prowling and a-growling
And a-sniffin’ the air
He can smell a fire
Before it starts to flame
That’s why they call him Smokey
That’s how he got his name.
They taught us that in elementary school and I remember it to this day. We also learned how to play it on the recorder.
It’s a different country now.
I had no idea that I am older than Smokey the Bear. Not by much though. Hahahaha
Smokey the propaganda Bear
Smokey came out as a gay, transgendered BBOC (black bear of color)
Great.
You bring up celebrating one of the most iconic gaslighting figures of the 20th century and expect all of us to sing Kumbaya?
C’mon, man.
I remember seeing Smokey in the National Zoo when I was little.
Did he come out as gay or trans yet?
Too bad Smokey...nice try. California policies give us the fires.
Happy birthday, Smokey the Bear!
When I was a child I was a big Smokey fan. I would get excited every time I saw a Smokey sign along the road during family vacations. One day my older brother told me a story about Ruff the Bear. Seems Ruff was Smokey’s older brother who during the fire pushed Smokey up the tree so that Smokey lived but unfortunately, for Ruff, not so much. He tells me now how I cried when he told the story. I think he even sent the story somewhere for publication but was (obviously) rejected. Anyway, at 64, I still get excited about seeing Smokey the Bear signs and wonder if there really was a Ruff the Bear.
Pretty funny.
We’ve been cramming in “Emergency!” Shows from the ‘70s and particularly the other day, I was noting how they had Smokey all over the place, esp. in an episode where they are stuck in the “boonies” with an Outland fire station.
i actually have a picture of him around here someplace i took in 1964 at the zoo...
