*** He told medics he had never been tested for a sexually transmitted infection (STI) before.***

At age 40? Yeah, I guess he was a virgin all those years.

I must wonder how many of the monkeypox infected people had HIV before becoming infected.

Did HIV facilitate the monkeypox leap from animal to human?

Further tests revealed the patient, who was not named, also had undiagnosed syphilis and HIV. He told medics he had never been tested for a sexually transmitted infection (STI) before.

You have to wonder how many other men he infected with his potentially deadly diseases.

How "loving," as the slogan goes.

We’ve all heard of cat-scratch fever.

How about butt-f*ck fever?

“Most infections so far have been in gay or bisexual men, but the virus can be spread or caught by anyone.”

But it is only being spread or caught by “gay” or “bisexual” men.

He had AIDS, syphilis, and monkeypox? Wow, I know "anyone can get it" but all of them, that must make him the unluckiest guy in the world.

Unless.... there's another reason that put him at extreme risk for nasty diseases.

I am pretty sure that even though they blanked out his eyes that people who know him will recognize him.

Incidentally before those standard immunity shots most of us got when we entered school there were lots of people who had been permanently disfigured by disease. We are incredibly fortunate to live in the modern era even though things like this do, occasionally, happen. Note that the reason these things get into the news is because of their extreme rarity.
