I watched Episodes One and Two and see two main problems,
On one hand they are very average. Lazy even.
On the other hand, the series is not actual Tolkien but more of a reboot. And not a very good one.
Tolkein is part of European culture. What Amazon has done is cultural appropriation that serves to dilute or erase European culture. Those of us with European roots are apparently not allowed to have a unique culture.
The ads sure look woke. I won’t watch Tolkein be ruined. The Hobbit movies were as horrifc as I ever want to see and as bad as the LoTR movie trilogy was bad. I love the book The Hobbit and I was really looking forward seeing it completely done well in a 6 hour movie trilogy. Instead I got a mindless CGI video game.
Hollywood can’t make a good movie today.

Why do all the elves have short-cropped salon-style poofy haircuts? Why are all the hobbits gypsy hobos instead of English cultured and mannered, like JJR himself?
I wouldn’t have minded adding some black people to the humans, and maybe even the dwarfs. But it is 100% ridiculous to make a high elf black.
Definitely a hot mess of "woke", feminized, third-rate script writing. Has only the most superficial connection to anything that Tolkien ever wrote.

Substitute “White Walker” for “Orc” and it could be a line that was repeated dozens of times in Game of Thrones.

Why bother spending big money for a good script when the general public has lost its ability to entertain themselves and is bored enough to watch any schlock (as GOT proved)?
I find the whole thing hard to follow after I figured out how easy it would be to kill Sauron. Just give him a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. He’ll shoot his eye out.
