This “news” has been around a few days. It is almost certainly nutball fake news that is spreading as random bits of info get added to spice up the story.
Plus there was some sort of military action at an airbase in Shenyang one night a week or so ago. The video of multiple detonations was making the rounds on Chinese social media.
Given today's environment, that's almost plausible.

The whole point, if the rumors are true, is why exactly is the PLA suddenly against Xi - are they more, or are they less in favor of invading Taiwan than Xi??? That is the question the rumor raises, to me.

We don’t know for sure. Maybe they did something other than arrest him, and he WAS president for life.
When all news sources are being controlled it is often only by word of mouth (rumors) that can get information spread.
Is this story true or false? I don’t know. But unlike others on this forum I will not shoot the messenger for passing it along.
The thing to remember about China is that it is not so much a “nation” as a crime organization. The change of leadership is often violent.
Under the leadership of Xi the free flow of money (where everyone skims a bit) has slowed. If Xi is taken out it will only because he has cut into the take of the other gang leaders.
Sometimes a rumor is just a premature fact.
It might not be a coup but instead a preparation for imminent war. Shutting down travel also prevents people from seeing military movements and getting in the way of military aircraft and military trains.
Maybe China is going to attack Taiwan or Russia today or tomorrow?
I remember first reading a “rumor” about a respiratory illness in Wuhan right here on FR. I guess it was nothing to worry with.

Is Xi an emperior? I thought China got rid of all traditional Chinese ways of life. For the CCP is the “heaven”.
