Vladimir Pozner; How the United States Created Vladimir Putin (2018)
Yale University Program in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies ^ | 2018 | Yale University

This 2018 lecture appears very accurate retrospectively. The first 45 minutes is Pozner's lecture, followed by an equally good question and answer period.

It is one of the most objective presentations I have heard, especially about how the Clintons created Putin.

I would love to hear comments BY PEOPLE WHO LISTEN TO THE LECTURE.

I'm seeking greater understanding and not taking political sides on this.

Take the time and listen to it. It's worth it.

I sat through one of this lying shill’s lectures when I was in college and he was spouting Communist Soviet propaganda. I can’t believe he doesn’t have the shame to shut his mouth and hide his face.

A ridiculous idea. Not worth the powder to blow it up.

Long time old school commie “news” personality. Shilled for the commies his whole life until the USSR collapsed. Then got a gig with Phil Donahue on cable and was never questioned about his support for Siberian prison camps and political detention.

I watched a chunk of it. It basically says — we are to blame for expanding NATO. Of course it’s always our fault, right?

Yale?
Feggedabowdit!
There is a slim chance that their STEM departments may have only small to moderate leaks in their intelligence, but the rest? Bwahahahahahaha.

Not going to listen. I am a long term Russian linguist for the DoD and State Department, lived over there and did a missionary (baptist) tour over there. Beslan created Putin and kept him in power all these years.

Putin was in charge but Beslan cemented him as the strong man who would protect the Russian people. And he did till this debacle in Ukraine.

I saw the name “Posner” and I wondered I that was the same SOB that made me want to spit on my television decades ago.

I try to avoid knee jerk reactions to names like that, because there was some other “Posner” I came across a few years back and I dismissed it as being the same guy, but it wasn’t.

Seems like this guy is. I wouldn’t be inclined to listen to any of his schtick. No doubt he is one of those guys who long for the ‘old days’...

I hadn’t thought of Beslan as being the thing that “made” Putin, but it makes sense. It seems to me (a distant observer) that he became a strongman rather than just being a President around that time probably because he knew he could get away with it. I read somewhere that Russia’s recent exploits in Syria also boosted Putin’s popularity. I’m not a Putin fan, just trying to connect the dots.

I remember Posner from the old Radio Moscow days. I guess once a shill, always a shill.

I remember Joe Adamov, too. Later, after the Soviet Union fell, he basically admitted everything on Radio Moscow was BS.

I bet you used to listen to Radio Tirana. Boy now there was some entertaining listening there.

Pushing the same Putin line that James Baker, in conversation and no where else, promised Gorbachev that with a reunited Germany the U.S./NATO would not move “one inch east”.Gorby himself has said that conversation was in relation to U.S. & NATO forces in Germany. Remember at the time Poland was still a Soviet/Warsaw pact state, and Poland shared borders with Eastern Germany. The Gorby-Baker discussion was not about the future of former Soviet states of Eastern Europe and what decisions of those state, regarding their own security concerns, that the U.S. and NATO would prevent them from making.

Yep, I listened to all of them more or less - I know, it’s an odd idea for entertainment. Radio Tirana was really militant and so was Radio Prague.

OMD actually did a sample of Radio Prague’s Interval Signal on the album “Dazzle Ships”

I got a QSL card from Radio Havana Cuba. I’m sure the CIA made a note of it, LOL!
