The two went downstairs where Paul opened the door when police knocked. Paul was not attacked until police arrived when he was apparently beaten unconscious by DePape with a hammer while police confronted the men. DePape had a bag with zip ties, rope, tape, gloves, another hammer and a journal.

Okay. Pelosi did not immediately hide behind the police? He did not say "Arrest this man...he's an intruder!" The police just stood there watching them UNTIL Pelosi was being hit by a hammer?? It SURE seems like they were both drunk and the police were highly amused by the "interaction" until the hammer play started.
