Looking for someone with Netflix who's seen the documentary. I have reviewed much evidence proffered by Hancock and others and find their evidence-based theory intriguing.

I have Netflix (”..shame on you, Lou!” “Yeah, I know.”) but haven’t seen the documentary. Now I know I’m not going to watch it.

After 13 years, I finally cancelled NF. Their agenda is just too tedious for me.

We get Netflix via the cellphone service.

I generally like these shockumentaries. But this one was a bit problematic for me. Mr. Hancock makes some interesting points, but I don’t think really proves anything. The issue is the word “Advanced” We think advanced means space travel. He is using the word “Advanced” to mean making fire and discovering the wheel. The civilization he proposes had the wheel, sails, fire and possibly writing.

I was underwhelmed.

I watched it and he does raise some interesting questions. They should be further researched if possible. This is what science is about, not “The Science”.

Well, I haven’t seen this documentary, but I read Hancock’s book years ago disputing the aging of the Sphinx and it was not very convincing at all. Lots of arguments based on pure speculation and ignoring all the contrary evidence and much simpler explanations for the “mysteries” he was trying to solve. So I haven’t been much interested in his theories after seeing how poor his thinking and methodology actually are once you scratch below the surface of the sensational things he says on tv.

Yes, I’ve seen Hancock’s Netflix series. I’ve been following him for a long time. I’ve read a few of his books, and have watched a lot of videos with him on Youtube over the years. His interviews with Joe Rogan are interesting and entertaining. So really there was very little new information in the Netflix series, but it’s a pretty good place to start for people who are unfamiliar with his work.

I’ve been intrigued by “lost civilizations” ever since I was a kid (I’m close to 70 now), so this stuff is right up my alley. One thing I’m surprised that he left out was the Sphinx. Geologist Robert Schoch, Boston University PhD., has determined that the Sphinx is WAY older that what Egyptologists tell us— possibly as much as 10,000 years old. Schoch is totally legit; I don’t know why this was left out of the series.

This whole thing about the series being “dangerous” is laughable. This is coming from status quo leftists who do now want people to question ANYTHING.

To give one example of the poor logic in the Sphinx book he wrote, he based most of his argument for an older, 13,500 year old dating of the Sphinx based on the fact that the lower layers of the Sphinx, and the walls of the Sphinx enclosure, were more heavily eroded than surrounding structures on the Giza plateau. However, he completely ignored that the Sphinx enclosure is at a lower elevation than the rest of the plateau, and therefore, the natural drainage path for flash flood waters that desert areas are subject to. Of course the natural drainage path for flood waters experiences more erosion than surrounding areas of higher elevation.

That is something one would learn in a high school level geology class, but Hancock either didn’t realize it, or pretended not to know about it since it didn’t support his preferred theory. Whether it was ignorance or dishonesty, neither speaks well of his scholarship.

I have seen it and it is the short video version of Hancock’s “America Before” and “Magicians of the Gods”.

There was a lot left out of the video presentations likely time and length constraints - so I’d suggest reading both of those books where more in depth evidence is presented.

The theory has a lot of scientific evidence which explains the sudden extinction of the Mega Fauna world wide, the Black mat geological layer, the Carolina Bays, and the Nebraska Rain Water basins also geological features.

One point he does not go into much except to hint at in in “America Before” is that the comet strike was not a one and done affair, but a feature of life for 100 years. During that time, 4% of Earth’s vegetation was burnt off (the black mat) in a near-century long firestorms across the North American, South American and European continents, and that meant large animals which depended and evolved in a high oxygen environment became oxygen deprived and died.

The whole of the event was centered on the Laurentide Ice Sheet, where several rocks as large as 1 mile in diameter hit the ice, sending huge shards of ice miles high into the sky and when hit the earth shattered sending ice spears every direction and through any soft material, causing huge craters which are still present in the landscape today, with the crater orientation to the north and north northwest (Carolina Bays, and the Nebraska Rain Water).

And that was definitely not a good time to be alive.

This is the short version.

I’ve watched the first 3 episodes.

Worth watching, but then you need yo do your own research.

Hancock jumps yo conclusions as seen in the first episode. The supposedly hexagonal rocks look barely hexagonal. And he gives no explanation for his dating to 24000 years ago.

Furthermore he talks of the Barack people’s myths. But the bataks like other Austronesian people moved to Indonesia only 3500 years ago, from Taiwan, one group becoming the Malay Indonesian Filipino and Malagasy people, and the other becoming the Polynesians. They post date the ice age, so their myths would not link to pre ice age.

Any advanced civilisation would have machines and metallurgy. We don’t find that until well after the ice age.

And no traces of farmed plants. Look st the difference between ancestral wheat or corn and varieties since the time of Christ.

I only saw the first episode, he visited an archeological cite in Indonesia. It was a cool place, but there was nothing there that particularly supported the theory he was trying to promote.

I have watched it. I don’t believe everything he claims by any means. However, I do believe, and have thought for years, there is a lot we don’t know about what has gone on on this planet. We base our knowledge on what is left; pyramids, mounds, and other construction. But suppose there were civilizations from which there is nothing left, or their history is buried and hasn’t been and may never be discovered? In other words, the oldest history discovered does not necessarily mean it is really where human history starts. It’s not beyond the realm of possibility that an advanced civilization was lost at some point.

There is a band wagon being ridden and the riders are all yelling about what amounts to quality. The old academic lines are being trashed in the face of all kinds of very compelling evidence resulting from some dedicated intense studies of stone workmanship.

There at least two areas of this study and bandwagons.

The first has to do with lots and lots of Egyptian artifactual objects fabricated with extreme precision from stone that is of hardness unworkable by most today. There is solid and vast evidence of tools not known to exist. One such tool is what must have been a circular saw. There are lots and lots of saw tool marks in rather akward places for the traditional scholars. There are a series of very large stone boxes fabricated to extreme square and plumbnuss in locations far underground. There are all kinds of vessels made from very hard stone with a precision today of a computer controlled tool. and on and on

The first published examples date from about 1911 but were tossed out of Academic discourse.

The second band wagon is being ridden by commentators on the studies of megaliths. Outrageously large stone blocks were quaried and then transported for many miles. In Peru, much of the trip was uphill. The construction is then extremely precise with examples in Peru and Japan extremely extremely precise.

In both instances, the band wagon riders are postulating the work and events are prehistoric. That means that the work was accomplished with no record or evidence of the people who accomplished the feats.

I tend to agree that the traditional academic party line is just ignorance. I tend to agree that the work in question predates anything generally known. I have no clue as to who or when but I enjoy the bandwagon videos on Youtube made by some real technical scholars and increasingly videoed by what are secondary reporters.

Bottomline........ we just don’t know
