Exactly. But racists make it bad.

Uncle Tom was explained well in a “Jeffersons” episode.

They ignore that UT was just self-sacrificing so others could be free.

But no, they prefer the Nat turner terror approach.

The copyright protection for Mickey Mouse and many other characters expires in 2024, the latest extension that Disney got. You can be sure the money will flow again to make sure none of that can get in public domain and there will be another extension.

So... Disney CEO, who's returning to the job, is claiming he always felt the ride was racist but is going to wait 60 days to shut it down? If it was really racist, he'd shut it down immediately.

How many "people of color" rode on it all these decades? I didn't realize that part of the ride was forcing people to use it.

Bob Iger is a virtue-whining race agitator who's using fake racism as an excuse to discontinue a ride that's losing money.

Disney should move to some large democrat city... kids are so stressed by constant crime and violence in those places they don’t even need to be broken to be groomed.

Inner city Detroit, Philadelphia, St.Louis, Chicago... so many democrat hellhole cities. Hell, even the once beautiful San Francisco... anyone afraid to drive and park could be dubbed ‘racist’ or a ‘phobe’ of some kind. That’s a twofer - being able to express hated toward the American families who have supported Disney all these years.

Disney would be swimming in WOKEville paradise.

I do wish people would stop calling the Democrats the Party of Slavery. That is very crude IMHO. It is more, umm, the Party of Plentiful Provisions on the Plantation and Punishment for Those Not on the Plantation.

They are just cancelling/erasing black culture.

"Uncle Remus is the fictional title character and narrator of a collection of African American folktales compiled and adapted by Joel Chandler Harris and published in book form in 1881. Harris was a journalist in post-Reconstruction era Atlanta, and he produced seven Uncle Remus books. He wrote these stories in order to represent the struggles of African Americans in the Southern United States, and more specifically, he wrote them in order to represent the struggles of African Americans on the plantations. He did so by introducing tales that he had heard and framing them in the plantation context. He wrote his stories in a dialect which was his interpretation of the Deep South African-American language of the time. For these framing and stylistic choices, Harris's collection has garnered controversy since its publication."

Song of the South is based on “Tales of Uncle Remus”, which is a collection of African American folktales. So, they are basically cancelling African American culture.

Can they retheme the ride using the Star Wars Holiday Special? It’s buried in the Disney vault almost as deeply as Song of the South.

The ironic thing is Uncle Remus tales, br’r rabbit, are based on authentic African tales handed down from slaves from their homeland.

Can’t have real history taught but you can have “Woman King” that fought to end slavery(fake)

Problem here is that by shutting down an attraction for a supposed racial portrayal, and they are not doing it with Mulan, Princess and the Frog, Aladdin, Pocahontas, Lilo and Stitch, Davey Crocket, One little Indian, Squanto: A Warrior’s Tale, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Brave, Moana...there are more, then they are being inconsistent as each one of these was swamped in cultural and racial undertones. And in some cases, the plot was directly related to one of the two problem areas they are shutting down Splash Mountain for. The definition of hypocrisy and doing a very bad job of hiding their efforts to the gaining of worth using a lack of morales doing it.

Uncle Remus was the classic ‘wise elder’ who educated young people with Aesop like fables using animal figures as symbols of both good and evil characters. The fables emphasized how good people could defeat evil persons by using their wit to defeat brutal strength. Some of these tales have obvious West African origins such as the rabbit and the brier patch. Uncle Remus is a very flattering picture of how the truths of folk wisdom helped character development and how even the most powerless (slaves) can assert their humanity in the face of brute strength. These sorts of teaching aids ought be part of early childhood education, not stigmitized and villified.
