I’m 65
What’s your idea of an appropriate punishment
Years in prison
Execution
I’m curious
I have a friend whose nephew shot his mother to death when the nephew was a high school kid. This was a really nice family, it was an unbelievably terrible situation.
The mother was punishing the son for some normal teen vs parent argument. But drugs were involved, psychedelics I think, and she didn’t realize that her son was totally irrational and crazy. The family had guns, target shooting and that sort of thing, the boy grabbed a pistol and shot his mother to death.
The father and the daughter were forgiving to the boy, but I don’t know if he was able to live with the guilt for what he had done. They didn’t want him to end up killing himself too.
They boy in this story has a verified mental illness. I don’t claim to know all about what the boy has but it sounds to me a lot of problems before this came about were in place.
Like maybe the kid was off or not on proper meds?
Why was there a gun for the child to get easy access to?
and most important question on everyone’s mind
Where is the father?
Like the 10 year old kid in my hospitals psyche unit a couple of years ago who took a kitchen carving knife to his mother threatening to run her through because she told him to stop playing a video game.
Mom bought the kid the damn game and she was arguing with the doctors to let him out and go home with her.
It is astounding. We have a son on the autism spectrum and have been around the mental health community for almost 39 years. We have encountered children like this and there is truly no help for them. They have no conscience and there is no drug that you can give them or punishment you can inflict to give them one.
