A 10-year-old boy accused of shooting his mom dead because she refused to buy him a $500 VR headset has asked for his bond to be lowered from $50,000 to $100.
Prosecutors said Quiana Mann, 44, was shot in the face by her son, who went on to use her credit card to purchase an Oculus VR headset before telling his grandma he was 'sorry' for killing his mother and asking where his package was.
The boy's attorney, Angela Cunningham, argued in court on Wednesday that his bail should be lowered to only $100, the amount he has in his piggy bank, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
'We have spoken to him about his ability to post anything,' Cunningham told the court.
'He told us about piggy banks with savings that he had from gifts, from birthday gifts. And scavenging through cushions in the couch that he's been able to save up.'
Judge Jane Carroll denied the request and imposed a travel restriction on the minor that will go into effect if he manages to post bail.
The child who, according to family members has 'rage issues' and hears imaginary people, has been charged with first-degree reckless homicide and will be tried as an adult.
Wisconsin state law dictates that children as young as 10 will be charged as adults for serious crimes, such as murder. He faces up to 60 years in prison if convicted.
The fact that the boy will be tried as an adult has created some headaches for Carroll, as she noted that all the usual factors when deciding bail conditions 'don't make a lot of sense when applied to a 10-year-old.'

I don’t know that this is as much about black culture as this kid has severe mental issues. From the way he is described it sounds like he is either schizophrenic or demonically influenced. Be it prison or a mental ward, he probably needs to be shut-away in a safe place for life.
Fatherless black children is the question a major issue maybe the major issue in this country whereby 2 to 3% of the population commits 55 to 70% of the violent crime but this child was mentally disturbed and it sounds like schizophrenia but 10 years old is very early for schizophrenia

If it was not due to the times and culture of the present day, his mother would still be alive, and he would be given an ass kicking instead of a trophy.

At 10 he’s still old enough to know what he did, and the fact that he shows no remorse is a huge red flag that he is a danger to everyone he meets.
I doubt he will make it to 50.
I totally agree that this little reprobate deserves to be locked away probably for life. But that being said I can speak from experience that getting help for kids like this is not easy. I have a friend who has an Autistic daughter with rage issues. She has put her head through drywall to the point of destroying my friend’s apartment. Has attacked her mother viciously. And has been thrown out of school for attacking and severely injuring another child. Her mother has tried everything in her power to get her help, i.e., committed to a safe facility for both the girl’s and society’s safety. She got nothing but empty promises until she was able, with my help, to contact her State Representative, who happened to be a psychologist, a graduate of her HS and the chair of the mental health committee in the legislature. This woman pulled some strings and got her daughter a real psych evaluation. The psychiatrist determined she was genuine threat to herself and society. She was admitted to an institution three years ago. When she turns 21, she will age out of that facility and there is nowhere else for her to go as an adult. So, in 2 years she will be released back into society and will be there until she kills herself or hurts/kills someone else and ends up in prison.
It sounds easy to say why didn’t they get this kid some help. Maybe the mom tried and ran into the same issues my friend ran into. Our state DCS is really good at taking kids out of Christian homes they don’t approve of but are pretty lacking when it comes to dealing with real problems.
No, I’m not racist but statistically it is obvious that too many in the black community have no sense of human compassion for the value of life, for even their own family.

I’m not sure of your age... HOWEVER....
I am in my mid-60s and I can ABSOLUTELY say WITH CERTAINTITY that at the age of ten (10), I and all my friends knew without a doubt that a gun kills and it was a permanent death.
All through mankind’s history, kids knew what they were going to accomplish when actively taking steps to cause a death. This was a pre-meditated killing. This was not a sad case of youngsters playing with a gun, or knife, or hatchet, or whatever tool you might opt to name.
The difference? They are not mentally prepared to defend themselves from the FREAKING ADULTS who say they’re too stupid at that age to understand death by violence.
The only child who doesn’t understand that is one that is mentally handicapped. A simpleton. A moron. An idiot. No, I’m not throwing out names to cause hardship; there are those who are truly handicap and those are the correct words.
The larger and more extreme danger are those who use them as tools against society.
