I live a 10-hour round trip from the nearest grocery store. Here's what buying groceries is like for me.

Yeah I guess if it’s that remote you could run a still and no one would know.

The people clearly have a lot of money though.

Her story is interesting she moved up there with her boyfriend/husband and virtually had to grow up finally although I’m not sure if she looks at it that way

Women can be so self obsessed it never ceases to amaze me

I enjoy her stories though good for her

That’s what I was thinking.

Especially if both are adventurous.

If one isn’t, it will be a miserable experience followed shortly thereafter by a nasty divorce.

The first time you go winter camping, especially in deep sub-zero, do car camping, then if you have misjudged or are underprepared, you have the extra gear and even the car to fall back on.

They better save up for a plane before Canada mandates EVs for everyone.

AKA “space heaters that run on dog food”.

Freelance writer, but that’s just her. Doesn’t say what her husband does.

Sounds kind of romantic for a youngish couple, for a couple of years.

Make it a couple of days for me & I'll be over it.

Although we cross off most of our grocery list at a supermarket, there are inevitably other stops to make while we’re in town.

We usually hit up the natural food store, another grocery store for additional items, the hardware store (last time we got supplies for our vegetable garden), the veterenarian’s (sic) office for dog food, the gas station (of course), and sometimes the dentist or hair salon. …
Ah, the natural food store. Never mind the vet’s office for dog food.

Also mentions they camp out during the summer, when grizzly bears and moose are out and about.

Have you watched the TV show ALONE ?

That show really makes you appreciate being able to stop at the grocery store on the way home from work.

She is also a teaching assistant. He most likely has a government job.

That was my first thought.
Time to buy a plane.

What does a used Piper Cub go for?

“He most likely has a government job’

Or he works in a diamond mine, gold mine, or some other reason to move out into the wilderness.

I remember watching the movie about the professional hunter who worked up on the north slope oil fields in Alaska. People get paid large amounts of money to go to work in remote areas.

Some of those Ice Road truckers supply parts to diamond and gold mines up in the Yukon/Northwest territories.

“Or he works in a diamond mine, gold mine, or some other reason to move out into the wilderness.”

Something big. His “company” transferred him there.

But it makes a better story if she doesn’t detail a good income.

I do the major thing every month to 6 weeks, re-wrap and freeze a ton. But the fresh fruits, milk and vegetables are not good for long, so quickie trips for those are an absolute necessity. She has arrangements with others, so they must all pick up some of those things for one another each trip.

I’m reading this as I’m waiting for my monthly grocery order to be delivered. In my jammies. With a cup of coffee.
