Sounds kind of romantic for a youngish couple, for a couple of years.
Lately I've been hooked on YouTube videos on winter camping. Seeing how people camp in tents in below zero weather and yet are still able to make themselves cozy and comfortable is fascinating. It's especially fun when dogs are involved.
It's all about having the right gear and some confidence in yourself.
Sounds like an EV would be a gamble for that grocery run on a cold day.
“I live a 10-hour round trip from the nearest grocery store.”
English as a second language.
Canadian Yuppie moves the wilderness, but does not know how to live off the land and subsistence hunt, instead drives 5 hours to grocery store.
Probable used to go on vacation with a motor home loaded with all the modern conveniences also.
If they can afford it, I suggest they get a piper super cub.
That is cool. Thanks for posting.
I use noscript. So many cross links at that webpage. Dangerous. Too bad almost all the photos won’t load.
Interesting that they decide to go rough it like that.
I did not notice any mention of what they do for a living or how exactly they pay their bills.
They must enjoy living in a remote location.
i guess they don’t have prime
Sounds like something for a 20 year old...I’ll take a smallish town and convenience any day!
I love it....If it weren’t for some off roading adventures, I’d only put on 200 miles per year on my vehicles. I change my oil each year and the oil is still clear and gold on the stick! I feel guilty changing the oil... I can fill my tank and 6 months later I’m still using the same fuel, with Sta-Bil fuel stabilizer added of course.☺
Living really remote nowadays can cost big bucks and be a big pain in the butt.
I personally enjoy driving long distances, but dang...you wonder what it would be like on a ten hour drive if a storm blew in. Probably have to watch the weather closely and plan accordingly.
Never mind having reliable communication gear and emergency gear as well on every ride in case of the unexpected.
Too remote for me! Might be good info for prepping though.
Her story is interesting she moved up there with her boyfriend/husband and virtually had to grow up finally although I’m not sure if she looks at it that way
Women can be so self obsessed it never ceases to amaze me
I enjoy her stories though good for her
They better save up for a plane before Canada mandates EVs for everyone.
Although we cross off most of our grocery list at a supermarket, there are inevitably other stops to make while we’re in town.Ah, the natural food store. Never mind the vet’s office for dog food.
We usually hit up the natural food store, another grocery store for additional items, the hardware store (last time we got supplies for our vegetable garden), the veterenarian’s (sic) office for dog food, the gas station (of course), and sometimes the dentist or hair salon. …
I do the major thing every month to 6 weeks, re-wrap and freeze a ton. But the fresh fruits, milk and vegetables are not good for long, so quickie trips for those are an absolute necessity. She has arrangements with others, so they must all pick up some of those things for one another each trip.
Costco will feed you while you shop ,LOL
I’m reading this as I’m waiting for my monthly grocery order to be delivered. In my jammies. With a cup of coffee.
