“Canadian Yuppie moves the wilderness, but does not know how to live off the land and subsistence hunt, instead drives 5 hours to grocery store.”

Hunting? Trapping might more productive, fishing if a river runs through it, along with an exceptionally short growing season. I wonder if they are near the Frasier and all that beautiful gold.

Trapping is hunting, just not with direct fire weapons. The list of things she could do to feed her family is long - none of which involve going to a grocery store, unless all other methods are not producing.

She could be near the Yukon River, but the Frasier does not reach to the Yukon territories. That river has lots of salmon also, just not sockeye.
