A few weeks ago, Sheletta Brundidge got a call from her son Andrew’s high school informing her that his daily medication had run out. The 16-year-old has attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and takes Adderall to control it. But when Brundidge went to refill it, her pharmacy was out of the drug. “The closest one that was available was over in St. Paul, Minn.,” she tells Yahoo Life. “That’s a whole other city!”
Thanks to a continuing nationwide Adderall shortage, there are many families like Sheletta’s who have been scrambling to get their prescriptions filled. So, what can you do if you or a loved one’s medication suddenly becomes unavailable? Here’s what medical experts say you need to know.
First, why is there a shortage? The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) tracks all drug shortages on its website. In October, the FDA announced a shortage of the immediate-release form of amphetamine mixed salts, which includes the brand-name drug Adderall. These are stimulants used to treat ADHD as well as certain sleep disorders, including narcolepsy.

The purpose of the medical-industrial criminal complex is to manufacture as many drug-addicts as possible.
We are being flooded with all sorts of drugs, methamphetamine being one. But we cannot keep prescription amphetamine on the shelf.
The synthesis is really not that difficult. So why the shortage?
Don’t even get me started on this ADD crap.
Yes, it exists. To the extent of being a fraction of what is claimed and being “treated”.
That’s one of the reasons we homeschooled. The school system was a damn pusher of it for any kid that didn’t march to their fascist drumbeat.
Hook'em on speed young,
I don’t have a good opinion of this drug.
Probably, because those types of drugs are outsourced to China.
I am by no means a Doctor, my recommendation to those who can’t get Adderall, get out and exercise, take a walk, jog around the block, do something to get your heart rate up and perhaps work up a sweat.
Change your diet, cut out fast food, start cooking real food, eat more fruit and vegetables, basically eliminate food with additives and preservatives and eat a balanced diet.
Start on a routine of vitamins, get more sleep if possible and watch what happens, for many people they will start to feel great and don’t need the crutch of Adderall.
could be a side effect of “safe and effective” drugs replacing discipline...
I thought it was going to be diet, exercise or holistic treatment for ADHD for adults and children.
Nope, just tips on how to jump through more hoops like a trained seal. To quote Hillary Clinton: “Bark, bark, bark”.
Just another way to destroy our children.
Big Pharma loves profiting from poisoning people.
Excellent recommendations.
For one, there's 40 million people taking Adderall today.
In 2009, there were only 10 million.
What's really messed up is that there's a lot of parents who want their kids on Adderall.
Why? Because the kids in school on Adderall are getting better grades. Not being on prescription speed is placing kids at a competitive disadvantage academically. And the docs will give it out to practically anyone who asks for it.
“So why the shortage?
everyone in china is sick with the covid, so there are no workers to make all the stuff we consume in the U.S. ...
So…get the generic.
Years ago it was called the “breakfast of champions” for students at top grad schools. But now I wonder if Biden’s monumental consumption is an issue?
Diet is critical, IMO.
There are many food sensitivities that can get a kid labeled as ADD/ADHD.
My son is very sensitive to artificial vanilla flavoring. Whenever he got it he would go into high gear and bounce off the walls to the point where he would be flushed red in the face and sweat soaked.
No doubt on a public school diet he would have been unmanageable and on drugs.
At home, whenever he got antsy, I would let him go outside and burn off the energy splitting wood. Of course, during swim team season, that was unnecessary. Nightly practice and meets on weekends kept all the kids much easier to deal with, although they did eat us out of house and home.
But a week after swim team was over,....... sigh.....
Physical activity is way underrated in considering a child’s behavior issues.
