We have become a nation where about 12 different federal agencies write regulations that although having the force of the law behind them, do not go through a true legislative process. They post these things on the federal register for public input which they are not required to do anything about and then after a specified time it becomes de facto, the law.

https://www.federalregister.gov/

So, for example, some government agency can just come up with the idea that a toilet may only use 1 gallon per flush, another that over the counter pseudoephedrine needs to be reported to them, yet another that hydroxychloroquine gets taken away from travelers coming into the US... There is no vote in congress. There is no review by the courts, except for that agencies internal lawyers that often are the ones writing these regulations in the first place.

Congress has big flashy hearings for the press, they talk about impeaching each other and their pronouns, while a run away government bureaucracy is basically making all the real decisions.

The government was never supposed to rule over our lives. Why is this happening?

The Dems don’t have the power to make Manchin drop anything. He’s elected by voters in West Virginia not appointed by the DNC and NDSC. Democrats control the Senate by 2 votes. If Manchin doesn’t win reelection in 2024, the Democrats will either have to reelect Biden to the presidency and have no other seats flip or win an additional seat to make up for Manchin. That’s why he has so much power.

I actually think it’s BS that Congress can pass a measure overriding an Executive action or regulation and it still needs POTUS to sign it to be valid. I think if the topic is blocking an Executive action, if that action is restrictive on individual rights and freedoms, a simple majority of both houses or a small supermajority like 55% or something should be adequate to block it. How can you allow the person you’re trying to check to have to sign on to blocking himself or he’s not blocked? That makes the Executive branch more powerful than Congress which it’s not supposed to be.

And much higher cost per BTU, not enough distribution and delivery infrastructure, and poorer quality when all gets done. Thanks, Brandon!

Gee, you make it sound like the government can pretty much do anything it wants like a totalitarian state and everybody knows that couldn’t possibility happen.
