The Biden administration's efforts to turn up the regulatory heat on gas stoves are drawing bipartisan opposition from a pair of senators who have introduced a bill to block a ban on gas stoves.
Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, and Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Chairman Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., introduced the Gas Stove Protection and Freedom Act last week amid the Biden administration's discussions of proposed restrictions on gas stoves.
Their bill would prohibit the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) from advancing regulations on existing or new gas stoves that would ban their use or "would otherwise substantially increase the average price of gas stoves in the United States."
"Make no mistake, radical environmentalists want to stop Americans from using natural gas. The Consumer Product Safety Commission’s proposed ban on gas stoves is the latest egregious scaremongering by the Far Left and their Biden administration allies," Cruz said. "I am pleased to partner with Sen. Manchin in this bipartisan effort to stop the federal government from issuing regulations that put the interests of the Green New Deal before the well-being of American families."
"The federal government has no business telling American families how to cook their dinner, which is why Sen. Cruz and I introduced bipartisan legislation to ensure Americans decide how to cook in their own homes," Manchin added. "I can tell you the last thing that would ever leave our house is the gas stove we cook on, and I will continue to fight any overreach by the Consumer Product Safety Commission."
The Gas Stove Protection and Freedom Act's introduction comes weeks after the Biden administration backtracked on remarks made by CPSC Commissioner Richard Trumka Jr., who said the administration could ban gas stoves amid claims that they emit pollutants that cause respiratory and health issues.

I support this bill. I’m not so sure Manchin can be counted on for continued support, if the Dem powers that be demand he drop it like a hot Red potato.
Now do mail-ballots and ballot harvesting in federal elections.
Do they have enough votes to override a veto? Cause....
“Cruz, Manchin propose bill blocking Biden admin from banning gas stoves”
Can Biden really do that or is this another Executive Order kinda like JFK issuing one to allow government employees to unionize that eventually becomes an unofficial law?
Will Biden sign the bill?
Banning gas stoves is just another step in the war against fossil fuel. Health concerns are just the excuse.
Just test it out in NYC, DC, Chicago, LA and San Fran first and see how it goes. Gotta keep in mind that pretty much every restaurant in the country cooks with gas stoves. Every apartment building has gas stoves and gas heat. What’s the plan to have every one of these places powered with electricity at a lower cost and how does the good government plan on creating all of this electricity?
Oh forgot, who pays for all the equipment to change it over?
He’s from the land of natural gas.
Think of how many bills will be required to stop those bastards from banning products. Thousands and thousands.
Maybe they need a 4,572 page “omnibus” bill that basically says “The government shall not have the authority to ban any products.” Democrats LOVE “omnibus” bills, so they might support this one, especially if they are given 15 minutes to read it and can’t find that key passage.
It’s the EPA that will do it, through new regulations.
No, They are trying to sell us a bridge again. Unfortunately there are far too many dumb enough to buy it.
no problem: deja vu
“History of Newbury, Vermont: From the Discovery of the Coös Country to the Present Time”, edited by Frederic Palmer Wells,
“On the 23d of June 1775 Gen Bayley prepared an address to the Northern Indians which is here given in full Newbury Coos June 23 1775.
The present war is only between the King and a part of the Lords and America. The Lords say all Americans shall become slaves or servants to them shall plow no more than they say eat nor drink nor war nor hunt but only by their leave shall not kill deer, moose, beaver, or any other thing but by their consent.
Americans say they will and that the King by the Lords advice has sent redcoats to kill us if we will not be subject to what they say.
And we have thirty thousand men with guns great and small to fight in our defense; we only want to live as we have lived here to fore. We do not want to fight if they would let us alone.”p73
If Brandon vetoes the bill then we can pass it again in 2025.
talkin’ about gas stoves beats the heck outta talkin’ about the border crisis....and I’m talkin to you Cruz....
Cowardly commie Rats just going along with the tyranny — there’s the problem
I have an electric stove because I'm in an apartment but my heat is gas...and almost every household in this huge county in Upstate NY uses gas for both stove and heat...with few exceptions.
Switching is just a waste of money and assets.
This act would require review of all federal regulations and laws placed on private real property and any product manufactured or sold by businesses or individuals. Once that review is complete, every agency, board and commission that is responsible to regulate and enforce previous regulations and laws are defunded. People employed as regulators and their support staff are fired and prohibited from ever working in government again. Furthermore it would ban any future laws and regulations pertaining to privately owned real property and the operation of business.
My property and what I do on my property is not the government’s business. Excuse me now, I have to get back to my meth lab to finish a cook.
Manchin wants to start acting like a conservative again because he’s up for re-election in 2024.
There is no limit to this!
A few years back you were not able to buy a toilet that flushes well because the EPA set a 1 gallon per flush limit.
