Environment activist Erin Brockovich is calling on the Biden Administration to "step up" after a trail derailment in eastern Ohio led to a controlled release of toxic chemicals.
On February 3, a train operated by Norfolk Southern Railway derailed near East Palestine, Ohio, and cause a major fire near the track. Around 20 of the 50 cars that derailed were transporting hazardous materials, including vinyl chloride, a toxic and flammable gas.
Out of fear that the fire could cause an explosion, officials decided to conduct a controlled burn of hazardous materials, which began on February 6. However, the process still released some toxic chemicals into the atmosphere.
On Monday, Brockovich posted on Twitter that President Joe Biden needed to be "more involved" in the derailment, adding, "Doing better than your predecessor, is not doing enough."
"We are counting on you to break the chain of administration after administration to turn a blind eye," Brockovich wrote. "STEP UP NOW."
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been monitoring the air and drinking quality of the surrounding area of the train derailment, and residents of East Palestine were allowed to return home ...
However, concerns still remain regarding the effects the release may have on residents and the surrounding wildlife. Two days after officials began the controlled release, a news outlet in Pittsburg reported that hundreds of fish had been found "belly up" in the Leslie Run stream, and a wildlife rescuer in East Palestine told Newsweek that his animals were suffering a week after the derailment.
...
Brockovich also called upon the state departments in Ohio in a separate tweet Monday, writing, "And believe me this is in no way to suggest that the first line of responsibility isn't on the state government but they seem too busy locking up journalists."

took him a week on the balloon
he’s a little slow
we should make allowances for his dementia
plus you are not allowed to wake him if he is napping
I think it’s too busy shopping for shoes to match its purse and worrying about too many white construction workers and stuff.
I think Mayor Pete was busy telling the world that we need more non-white construction workers......
This train derailment is going to be expensive!
Sorry Erin.
It’s ice cream 🍨🍨🍨 time right now.
We’d refer you to the Office of Special Ice Cream.
Spy balloons, multiple train wrecks with chemical pollution, food processors burning down, Sounds like it is planned to me. What are they covering up with these “accidents”?
The Resident Removed the safety,
and the owners (guess who) when the axle was photographed
and sensored to be BURNING, demanded they continue.
This is treason to remove the last sources of eggs
which protect against the spike protein monstrosities,
and 10% more of the citizens of the Republic.
Why?
THERE HAS NEVER BEEN ACCOUNTABILITY, or even
discussion of this atrocity
on the MSM owned by (guess who).
Yes, supposedly. But that day he was too busy being reamed in the Hershey Highway by a big buck he met on Grindr.
It sounds like that entire area needs to be fenced off for the next 20-50 years or so. It could be worse. If it was a nuclear accident then we would have wait 100,000 years.
You shouldn't. She has no expertise. I sell against her stupid movie... with success.
you, among all Freepers, should know: Such "hazardous" chemicals are transported EVERY DAY, all over the country. Accidents are rare.
Vinyl Chloride is not a huge immediate threat... other than the explosion potential. It's more of a LONG term exposure threat. No one in Ohio should be overly concerned about long-term exposure. It will be cleaed up.
I usually side with business, but there’s something wrong at Norfolk Southern railway, the owner of the tracks where the derailment occurred (on the historic Pennsylvania Railroad mainline just west of the Ohio-PA state line). The Amtrak Capitol Limited, the Chicago- Pittsburgh-Washington DC daily train, runs over those tracks. NS recently had another derailment, on the former New York Central line at Sandusky, Ohio. Who knows where else they operate hazardous tracks. Also, NS runs its freight trains, which can be well over one mile long, at high speeds (the national freight train speed limit is 79 mph). These freight trains are frightening to look at close up. There is a valid public safety reason to make sure that the big freight railroad companies carefully maintain their roadbeds and tracks.
Interestingly, the NS routing between Chicago and Pittsburgh runs just south of downtown South Bend.
70 mph. The passenger train max is 79 mph with certain exceptions.
Don’t mind all the dying wildlife right? Or the acid rain that’s starting to show it’s ugly face? Just a mild inconvenience.
As part of the clean up they drained the contents of the tankers into a trench and set the pool on fire.
That’s the first I’d heard of that as a clean up procedure. You?
You’re saying that the Feds and state officials and EPA are doing a great job?
Inside word from an N&S employee is that a hot journal on one of the cars was detected and the crew on the engine ignored it.
Doing better than trump?
I don’t recall a derailment like this under trump.
