This is in my backyard. I've been listening to scanner reports all evening. Nothing but chaos so far. There's been at least one dead, several more wounded, and reports of shots fired from almost every building on campus. The suspect is still at large.

An active shooter is a person who is trying to shoot as many people as they can indiscriminately.

A “shooter” is usually a single person involved in a single incident and more often than not there is a specific target.

This is some very chaotic scanner traffic.

Not in the area, but what strikes me as strange is the sheer number of buildings/areas with reports of shots. Some were very far away from the main area, based on a map. Many were called in and officers nearby heard nothing.

Seems like some SWATing attempt is possible as well.

Somebody with a sick sense of humor having fun with fake calls, or a deliberate operation to gauge police response on a large college campus??
That’s in addition to a real shooter as there are reports of fatalities.
