It’s been almost 40 years since Wolverine’s first appearance on the very last page of The Incredible Hulk #180. In comic book time, of course, Wolverine is much older: Over a hundred years old, a century-plus lifespan that has seen the man called Logan become a soldier, a samurai, a superhero, an X-Man, an Avenger, the amnesiac victim of horrific scientific experiments, a renegade, a teacher. This September, that’s going to end.

Comedienne Sandra Bernhard called Bristol Palin a hooker on Wednesday's "The Joy Behar Show." JOY BEHAR, HOST: After weeks of speculation that the low-scoring Bristol Palin could actually take the "Dancing With The Stars`" win, the nation breathed the sigh of relief last night as Jennifer Grey was crowned the champion (ph). With me now to talk about this and other stories in the news are Sandra Bernhard, comedian and singer, Rebecca Dana, senior correspondent for the Daily Beast, and Andrea Marcovicci, singer and actress. I called you Andrea. Is it Andrea or Andrea? ANDREA MARCOVICCI, SINGER: It`s Andrea. BEHAR:...

Ahead of the opening of his new film "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," Hugh Jackman was feeling pretty generous. TMZ reports that Jackman dropped $4,308.87 on breakfast for 800 lucky fans in Tempe, Ariz. Receipts indicate that he bought 87 breakfast trays and 80 gallons of coffee from Paradise Bakery, which is near the theater where fans had been camping out the day before Monday's movie premiere. The breakfast items were reportedly pretty simple -- platters of bagels, muffins and croissants. Check out the receipt posted on TMZ

At midnight tonight Hollywood declares the start of the Summer moviegoing season with the bow of X-Men Origins: Wolverine opening on an enormous 4,000+ theaters. How big it will bow is the question of the day with many wondering if the pirated leak of the film last month will have any negative impact on its overall box office. Here's the top five as I see it: 1. X-Men Origins: Wolverine -- $85 million Early reviews haven't been kind -- but who cares! This is summertime. This is good, clean, popcorn entertainment with a hunky Hugh Jackman and some cool special...

After more than 10 years of acerbic writing, Foxnews.com columnist Roger Friedman has reached a bitter end himself in a film piracy-related incident. The moral of the story is that, if you work for a company that owns a movie studio, it’s not a good idea to download and review a stolen copy of an upcoming movie. But that’s apparently what Friedman did. The entire entertainment industry has been talking about the stolen copy of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” which was posted on the Internet about a month before the movie’s planned debut. The pirated version was an early, unfinished, special...

It depends whom you ask.On Saturday News Corp. released a statement saying the Hollywood gadfly had been "terminated."But on Sunday afternoon Friedman told Daily Variety that he had not been let go.Fox News released its own missive when asked on Sunday afternoon if Friedman had been ousted. Sometimes, if you're paying attention, you can watch an event as it unfolds and see that, even if you are unsure of the outcome, the world you know has been changed forever. I'm sure somewhere in 1914 someone said, "Well, now that they've killed the Archduke Ferdinand, the whole world will go to war." Well, last night someone assassinated Fox's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and it is the shot heard 'round the movie blogosphere. Someone released a DVD-quality, watermark and timecode-free copy of Fox's summer tent-pole blockbuster to the torrents. While the film is a work print (with incomplete effects, temp...

Just a simple vanity of something I thought funny and ironic and wanted to share. From time to time, I go to the Marvel website and check out new stuff. They have a feature where you can read old and new comics online. I opened up an old Strange Tales featuring the Human Torch of the Fantastic Four. He is fighting some costumed character with the name of Destroyer - not the Destroyer that would later fight Thor. Anyway, the plot has the villian working for the coummunists (this story is from the early 60's). At the end when the...

Twentieth Century Fox plans to keep the mutants coming with a spinoff of its popular "X-Men" film franchise starring Australian-born actor Hugh Jackman in the title role of "Wolverine." A studio spokesman confirmed on Wednesday that the film is in development with a script currently in the works but no director yet on board. Although initial reports from the international industry conference Cine Expo in Amsterdam suggested the film was slated for a 2007 release, the Fox spokesman said it was doubtful the picture would be ready before 2008, in part because Jackman is expected to do another movie first...

A biologist has confirmed the sighting of a real Michigan wolverine, about 200 years after the species was last seen in the state that uses the small but ferocious animal as its unofficial nickname. Coyote hunters spotted a wolverine near Ubly, about 90 miles north of Detroit. Michigan Department of Natural Resources wildlife biologist Arnie Karr saw the forest predator Tuesday and snapped pictures of the animal as it ran out of the woods and across a field. The wolverine, a member of the weasel family that grows to about 25 pounds but is ferocious enough to fight off bears...

U.S. soldiers remove the cover hiding the spider hole used by Saddam Hussein before he was captured last Saturday in a farm near Tikrit, northern Iraq, Monday Dec. 15 Photo: AP The yard was a mess, the laundry wasn't done, the pantry was bare and the only art on the wall was a poster of Noah's Ark. Saddam Hussein's hideaway on a farmhouse in northern Iraq looked more like a derelict property abandoned by squatters than the lavish palaces he had lived in for years. On a tour of the mud-brick hut above the hole Saddam was found in two...

After his last audioaped message was delivered and aired over Al Arabia TV on Sunday November 16, on the occasion of Ramadan, Saddam was seized, possibly with the connivance of his own men, and held in that hole in Anwar for three weeks or more, which would have accounted for his appearance and condition. Meanwhile, his captors bargained for the $25 million dollar prize the Americans promised for information leading to his capture alive or dead. The negoiations were mediated by Jalal Talabani's Kurdish PUK militia. These circumstances would explain the ex-ruler's docility -described by Lt. I was driving into work and on the radio they had this syndicated columnist saying that Hugh Jackman was close to being the next James Bond since Pierce Brosnam has indicated he will retire after the next film in 2005. So the next film would be sometime after that. (2 years?)
