Ice storm heh heh. Oh you won’t fool me with this fake news. Everybody knows ice storms no longer exist because of climate change

450,000 remain without power in Michigan

If they were on renewables this wouldn't be happening.

Good grief. This happens every year for one reason or another.

It happens here in Upstate NY, too.

That's what fleece blankets are for..a portable radio instead of dead silence...and a florescent lamp....and all is well. If the outage is prolonged, the Town opens up the Rec Center...cots and coffee...

When I was a kid, that number would have been no more than four or five thousand. Larger numbers have to be expected when you start moving large portions of the world’s population to Michigan. More people, less open spaces. It’s kind of a math problem for old schoolers. Have you ever wondered why tornados ALWAYS DO A LOT OF DAMAGE these days? People living where people never lived before. People living in flood plains explains a lot of the “flooding” we’re seeing these days.

Whitmers fault!

Yep, every breath she takes emits more CO2 which causes global warming. This should be a snow storm, not an ice storm. It’s leftist running their mouths causing this. /s

More seriously, ice storms suck. It’s one of the few whether events that leave people near helpless. You can’t drive in it. You can’t walk in it. It’s nearly impossible to clear your walks and driveway if the temperature keeps going down. Salt and ice melt stop working when it gets too cold. Wise people made a trip to the liquor store earlier in the week.

There are a huge amount of pass-cards handed to liberals in Michigan. They have special privilege.

Not a good time of year to be without power in Michigan.

One of my Project Managers live in Michigan and is without power again this morning. She has a natural gas powered Generac so they're ok, she's been tethering her smartphone to her laptop to get work done.

They keep getting told the power will be restored later, and later, and later ...

Ice storms are the worst. I’d rather have two feet of snow then a quarter inch of ice.

Pardon me, all, but this is one of my triggers.
Total anger at the Michigan power leaders about all this.

Instead of investing in putting large amounts of power lines underground and sparing us from many outages caused by wind or ice or heat or snow every year, the power company DTe went all out for climate change lunacy.
One statement: The cost of this important change would be too high for our customer to bear in their monthly bills so it is being spread over time as we move to a new energy future.

((Instead of strengthening and protecting the power grid.))

The former CEO of DTE Gerry Anderson bragged and virtue signaled about deliberately choosing to force Michigan’s energy future into the most woke version possible. The opposite of my position.
“During his time as CEO, Anderson focused on and led the clean energy transformation of DTE’s power generation, pursuing increasingly large-scale investments in renewable energy. He committed the company to directly address the climate crisis by retiring coal-fired generation over time, investing heavily in wind and solar, and driving for net zero carbon emissions – becoming one of the first industry CEOs to set this goal.

Anderson also brought a focus on clean energy to the Edison Electric Institute, the association that gathers the leadership of U.S. electric companies, which Anderson currently chairs. In that role, he has encouraged the industry to accelerate the nation’s shift to clean energy production and to fundamentally address climate change.”
