Star Trek Discovery Is Cancelled And Fans Are Divided

Star Trek Discovery is being cancelled after its fifth season, and the reaction from fans shows that its place in the franchise is uncertain.

After a six-year run, it's official: Paramount is pulling the plug on Star Trek Discovery. This isn't quite enough to make it the shortest-running mainline Trek series - that "honour" goes to Star Trek Enterprise - but it is a far more abrupt end than most. So unsurprisingly, fans are divided on both the show, and the decision to can it after just five seasons.

While some are mourning the show, grateful that it kickstarted a new generation of Trek, others shed no tears at all, feeling that it was the worst of the bunch. Then we have others who are actually happy it's gone, celebrating the end of a show that seems to have struggled to find its place in the Star Trek series.

I've searched all over FR and didn't see this one posted, so I thought I would do the honor of informing my fellow Trekkie FReepers of the news.

The writing's been on the wall the last few months... I've noticed that post-season 4, even Drekkies aren't defending the show anymore. It's gotten to the point now where we are actually 'allowed' to criticism Star Trek: Discovery (or "STD" as I like to call it for short) on social media again, without being called "toxic fans" and muted or banned for not blindly fawning over the show.

I guess Stacey Abrams will have to find a new acting gig!

What fans? If I am not mistaken, no one watched this show. Can anyone name a character from it? You can find plenty of people who know characters from previous shows; Kirk, Picard, Janeway, Sisko, Archer, Quark, Spock, Worf, Seven of Nine, etc. Cant name a single character from this show.

The article also claims the fans who are "glad to see it gone" were all motivated by racism/sexism/homophobia. Yeah, it couldn't POSSIBLY be because the show was terribly written, acted, and directed... right??? Once again, the mainstream media shows its bias.
