A West Covina man died after he fell from a rocky bluff and into the Pacific Ocean in Oregon on Saturday...
Authorities say Henry Minh Hoang, 25, was hiking past a safety fence near “the punch bowl” at Cape Kiwanda State Natural Area when he slipped. He landed about 20 feet from the ocean’s edge but was pulled in by waves while apparently knocked unconscious...

Well, he won’t be doing THAT again anytime soon. :)
“...was hiking past a safety fence...”
I’m sorry for those that loved him that he was being such a dope. :(

Would never be done by Florida Man.
There are no appreciable mountains or high cliffs in Florida.
From Florida visit highlights site visitflorida.com :
Britton Hill
At 345 feet above mean sea level, Britton Hill is Florida’s highest natural point – and the lowest “high point” in the United States. You can summit without a Sherpa. Your grandmother can get to the top without breaking a sweat.

Well, his family can have that little sliver of pride, then. ;)

When we were teens, we used to vault the “safety fence” atop a local Oregon tourist stop, and go scampering down the steep trail to the beach. The appeal of many of our favorite places was that nobody would go there looking for us.

I lived in Newport, OR for a few years. Right on a cliff above the ocean. The beaches in OR are a true thing of stunning natural beauty, but you sure had to be aware of weather, waves, wind, animals. I saw giant snags (dead trees) get picked up by 110 mph winds and go through a hotel window. Poor guy...you have to respect your surroundings.

In reality, a lot of us shouldn’t still be alive today. ;)

Yeah. There was a star football player from the neighboring town that slid down a face I climbed, back in the day. Hit his head, floated off...still hasn’t been found, years later. Looks like a college football player died out there a year ago. It’s still plenty dangerous, though, in our day, these places were a little harder to access. And nobody had a phone.

Well. He died suddenly. I can’t believe that the conga line of Pavlov’s humans haven’t already tried to connect the dots here. Surely the self anointed kirsch toe suckers won’t pass this one up.
