Fauci: "I doubt if I've ever met him [Ralph Baric]." The bizarre (apparent) absence of the world's leading authority on bat coronaviruses.
Courageous Discourse ^ | March 15 | John Leake

The 2015 paper published by UNC Chapel Hill Professor Ralph Baric et al. titled A SARS-like cluster of circulating bat coronaviruses shows potential for human emergence. As the authors (including Zhengli-Li Shi at the Wuhan Institute of Virology) state in their abstract:

"Here we examine the disease potential of a SARS-like virus, SHC014-CoV, which is currently circulating in Chinese horseshoe bat populations1. Using the SARS-CoV reverse genetics system2, we generated and characterized a chimeric virus expressing the spike of bat coronavirus SHC014 in a mouse-adapted SARS-CoV backbone. The results indicate that group 2b viruses encoding the SHC014 spike in a wild-type backbone can efficiently use multiple orthologs of the SARS receptor human angiotensin converting enzyme II (ACE2), replicate efficiently in primary human airway cells and achieve in vitro titers equivalent to epidemic strains of SARS-CoV.

The purported purpose of this Gain-of-Function work—i.e., generating a chimeric virus (combining genetic material from two different viruses) capable of infecting human airway cells—was to lay the groundwork for vaccine development and testing in the event that a wild bat coronavirus were eventually to infect humans."

Under the paper’s section titled Biosafety and biosecurity, the authors wrote:

Reported studies were initiated after the University of North Carolina Institutional Biosafety Committee approved the experimental protocol (Project Title: Generating infectious clones of bat SARS-like CoVs; Lab Safety Plan ID: 20145741; Schedule G ID: 12279). These studies were initiated before the US Government Deliberative Process Research Funding Pause on Selected Gain-of-Function Research Involving Influenza, MERS and SARS Viruses (http://www.phe.gov/s3/dualuse/Documents/gain-of-function.pdf). This paper has been reviewed by the funding agency, the NIH. Continuation of these studies was requested, and this has been approved by the NIH.

So there it is. Ralph Baric and his colleague at the Wuhan Institute of Virology plainly state that they engineered a bat coronavirus, using Gain-of-Function methods, that infected the respiratory tract of humanized mice, and the NIH approved their study because it was initiated before the US Government pause on Gain-of-Function Research.

The first paragraph not included above:

"Dr. McCullough and I often marvel at how the mainstream media somehow fails to see and report facts of enormous importance—facts that are documented in academic papers, grant proposals, e-mail correspondence, and video footage.

All a journalist has to do is read the documents and report their content. And yet, somehow, most legacy media journalists are apparently unable to gain awareness of and report what is immediately at hand."

Quotes from the above article;

” we generated and characterized a chimeric virus expressing the spike of bat coronavirus”..... “ replicate efficiently in primary human airway cells and achieve in vitro titers equivalent to epidemic strains of SARS-CoV.”

This research paper was published in 2015.

On October 17, 2014 the following was published:

“U.S. Government Gain-of-Function Deliberative Process and Research Funding Pause on Selected Gain-of-Function Research Involving Influenza, MERS, and SARS Viruses”

http://www.phe.gov/s3/dualuse/Documents/gain-of-function.pdf

“New USG funding will not be released for gain-of-function research projects that may be reasonably anticipated to confer attributes to influenza, MERS, or SARS viruses such that the virus would have enhanced pathogenicity and/or transmissibility in mammals via the respiratory route. The research funding pause would not apply to characterization or testing of naturally occurring influenza, MERS, and SARS viruses, unless the tests are reasonably anticipated to increase transmissibility and/or pathogenicity. “

Just like the horrifying amount of dual-use technology transfers that China was caught in during the 1990s, the facts of which were plainly detailed in declassified reports, reporters are equally lacking in curiosity when it comes to the origins of COVID.

I knew 30 years ago that reporters were idiots. Despite being a working wife and mom, I took the time to understand complex military terminology and acronyms so I could read those reports. Once I did, the threat was obvious.

Research? Digging? Questioning the narrative?

Too much work for most, apparently.

And since they can’t or refuse to understand the information, it’s easier to dismiss it than to admit their ignorance.

In March 2020, I sent that article to Hannity, Carlson, Ingraham and other journalists at Fox. Crickets.

This information, about Baric, gain of function coronavirus research, and Zhengli-Li Shi who came to head the Wuhan Institute of Virology was readily available at the outset of the pandemic and made it clear from the very beginning that this was not a naturally occurring virus.

Many people died because of the arrogance and ignorance of the NIH-NIAID, Fauci, Peter Daszak, and all those whose path to publication, research funding, and academic ‘stature’ were facilitated by doing relatively pedestrian but inherently dangerous gain of function research.

This was criminal negligence at the least, and in the context of the later cover-up was even more clearly criminal.

In other words: We created a new virus in order to be able to create a vaccine for it, in case it evolved on it's own.

For smart people, that's a pretty stupid idea.

It’s the competency bias.

Because someone on TV says it, it’s easily assumed that it’s valuable information. Especially on topics unfamiliar to you.

But when you hear them talk about something within your field of expertise, you see how absolutely stupid they sound.

I find it hilarious when I hear TV talking heads talk about how safe computer election software is.

It’s like the joke of people saying “It must be true, because I saw it on THE INTERNET”

One more interesting data point...

The Chinese Bat Lady who directed Covid gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Lab trained in Professor Ralph Baric's UNC lab for several years.

True enough. But there's money to be made in doing it -- or, rather, public monies to be scrounged up in doing it -- and that's what amoral mad scientist types like Ralph Baric do for a living.

There are many involved in the matter who should simply be taken out and hanged. But it will never happen.

The epitome of a weasel statement.

Fauci needs to be called in for weeks of interviews, and then prosecuted.

Maybe the reason Fauci made no effort to meet Ralph Baric was because Fauci knew the story about ‘the bat soup virus’ was a lie from the start. Closest bat caves for commercial sale of bats for bat soup was over 400 miles from Wuhan.

There is circumstantial evidence that Fauci met Baric in his office during February 2020. The meeting was listed on Fauci’s calendar and NCU professor emails suggest Baric was in Fauci’s office in early Feb 2020...
