“I’m not sure counties trying to secede would have the impact that would be needed to get real change”
They are voting on this in Oregon on now, trying to join Red Idaho.
Secession isn't going to work. People are going to be crossing boundaries everyday and going through customs every day. Goods crossing the border will be held up, inspected, and taxed. The ports would all be in the hands of the blue counties. Red counties and blue counties will fight over land and resources, and the dividing lines will run through most counties, not between them. Red counties will develop industries of their own, reduplicating what already exists on the other side, and the more the red counties invite corporations in the more they become like the blue counties. The result will be a lower standard of living and more aggravation all around. We won't know how much we benefitted from being part of the United States until we have lost it.
“Well, it’s either “secession” or “succession” (with two c’s) Either way, your spell check lied to you. Time to accept that your spell check is a communist disinformation agent.”
It’s kind of funny... I really like spell checkers. I never could spell even as a child 70 plus years ago. The only word I got down right was Aeroplane, and they changed that one.
I did, but sorry, it just throws it off on such a a serious topic which is what the word is!
Were you using AI? So why not check the title of what is supposed to be your work?
Secession needs to be state by state, not county by county.
You mean like between Canada and the USA?
LOL. Nice try FAIL.
So which part of UTAH will be at war with itself?
“The withdrawal of a State from a league has no revolutionary or insurrectionary characteristic. The government of the State remains unchanged as to all internal affairs. It is only its external or confederate relations that are altered. To term this action of a Sovereign a ‘rebellion’ is a gross abuse of language.”
“Secession belongs to a different class of remedies. It is to be justified upon the basis that the States are Sovereign. There was a time when none denied it. I hope the time may come again, when a better comprehension of the theory of our Government, and the inalienable rights of the people of the States, will prevent any one from denying that each State is a Sovereign, and thus may reclaim the grants which it has made to any agent whomsoever.”
Jefferson Davis
In the 20th century we had two examples with the dissolution of Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia. The former being accomplished peacefully and the latter violently.
Lincoln was no angel, and should be replaced as presidential iconography. He oversaw the slaughter of 500,000 Americans. There is no speechifying that justifies that. If the North hated the South, why the desire for Union? It makes no sense… unless empire is the goal.
You ignored the rule of law and Justice part.
I hope you are right. Farmland in our territory getting sold to the ChiComms does not help though.
Unfortunately, I don't think the CSA had formally organized its government at the time. South Carolina seceded before Lincoln even took office.
Greater Idaho Movement.... I know they’re voting that they WANT to leave. But can they? It requires approval from the state they’re a part of, the state they want to move to & the Federal Gov’t. Is that going to happen? No, I don’t think so.
“So which part of UTAH will be at war with itself?”
It would be a free-for-all: The Mormons and the California transplants and all others, all fighting one another.
No it wouldn’t the State and it’s governor are still in charge. Get it?
“They wouldn’t make it through 1 quarter without us.”
Sounds like the same kind of argument secessionists made prior to the civil war. England would ally with the Confederacy because England needed the South’s cotton. One Southerner defending his home was worth 10 Yankee hirelings.
Both of those arguments turned out to be wrong.
I expect your argument would also turn out to be wrong.
“No it wouldn’t the State and it’s governor are still in charge. Get it?”
Then you have no idea what a civil war is.
Secession is not war. A war can came after secession but it may not.
