Oregano and thyme — all bad
Ginger, only one good, Simply Organic. In fact they seem to rank best. Oregano was the only bad one in that brand(and every other brand tested). Great Value — 50/50 shot
They test Trader Joe’s but not Kroger which covers half the country with all its different store names?

NO ONE is adding heavy metals to spices, certainly not on purpose. May there be residues from soil? Heavy metals are part of nature also. OK - what form are they? Are they non-toxic organic forms? What's the total content? What limits have regulatory authorities like FDA have?

Arsenic is in apricot seeds and in Almonds. Apricot seeds were once used to treat cancer. Arsenic is also blood pressure drug isn’t it?
I have been growing and drying as much of my own as possible the last few years.
Some common spices can be perennials even herein the north. Some of those are oregano, thyme, and sage. Others can be more cold sensitive and yet produce a great crop in one summer, like rosemary and basil.
I tried marjoram but it didn’t grow very well. There are others I need to investigate.
Garlic is a ridiculously easy crop to grow. Almost nothing bothers it or kills it.

In general, not enough companies provide source countries for their products.
NOTE: If you use an ‘Italian Blend’ spice mix, that would have thyme and oregano in it.

Maybe those elements are what makes spices spicy.
Everything in Kalifornia must have a toxic ingredient warning, even hammers. I suspect someone did a spectroscopic analysis of spices and found those elements. They have been there all along and in harmless quantities.
