Indian opposition parties on Wednesday (Apr 5) condemned the removal from some schoolbooks of references to how independence hero Mahatma Gandhi's pursuit of Hindu-Muslim unity angered some Hindu extremists and led to his assassination.
The new edition of a political science book for 17-18 year olds, published by the autonomous National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), also removed a reference to a year-long ban on the Hindu group Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) after Gandhi was assassinated in 1948 by a Hindu hardliner, Nathuram Godse.

“Gandhi’s pursuit of Hindu-Muslim unity angered some Hindu extremists...”
Gandhi in reality pursued Secular/socialist-Muslim unity(via appeasement) that sought to disenfranchise Hindu majority - that so-called mutual-appeasement pursuit failed so spectacularly that ended up n partition and genocide of Hindus while secular socialists and Islamists divided up spoils of post-colonial India. His assassination was culmination of the betrayal and genocide.
The obvious elephant in the room is that Ghandi obviously enraged at least one Hindu — Nathuram Godse — so much that he was willing to give his life so that India would be rid of him.
...Gandhi was all TALK of HINDU-MUSLIM unity, just TALK. In reality, GANDHI was a die hard supporter of THEOCRATIC HINDU STATE
Nathuram Godse - HE was not an enraged HINDU. Godse was a HUMANIST, Godse opposed partition. GODSE blamed GANDHI for the partition and genocide of 1947. REASON GODSE killed GANDHI is to prevent further bloodshed.
You must read Godse’s statement in court: “...may it please your honor”
You will be shocked
