Three decades ago to the day, the Waco siege came to a tragic end. It shares its gruesome anniversary with another horrific event, that of the Oklahoma City bombing, but what do we remember about what happened in the Texas city also known for the birthplace of Dr Pepper, the Texas Ranger Hall of Fame and the Texas Sports Hall of Fame.
The siege occurred in 1993 when the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) attempted to execute a search warrant at the Mount Carmel Center ranch, which was the home of a religious group known as the Branch Davidians in Waco, Texas. The ATF believed that the group was stockpiling weapons and explosives, and they hoped to arrest their leader, David Koresh, on charges of illegal possession of firearms.
However, the raid quickly turned into a shootout between the ATF and the Branch Davidians, leaving several people dead on both sides. After a 51-day standoff, the FBI launched a tear gas attack on the compound in an attempt to force the Branch Davidians to surrender. However, the compound caught fire, killing 76 people, including Koresh and 25 children.
The Waco siege was highly controversial and sparked debates about the use of force by law enforcement agencies and the government’s handling of religious groups. The tragedy also raised concerns about the potential for violence in religious cults and the need for better communication between law enforcement agencies and these groups.
On February 28th, the ATF attempted to execute a search warrant at the ranch, which quickly turned into a violent shootout between the ATF and the Branch Davidians. There were several factors that contributed to what went wrong during the siege, including:

It is hoped that this series will shed light on this controversial and tragic event in American history and encourage discussions on the need for better communication and conflict resolution in similar situations.
In 2023, we know the FBI lies and covers up almost reflexively.
It’s hard to believe Netflix would have an accurate account.
When the ATF named the original attack “Operation Showtime”, you know what their attitude and aims were. It was not justice or even law enforcement.

Moreau went to town (Waco) regularly to have breakfast at Whataburger. The cops could have easily picked him up on any day.
They wanted to play special ops and have a shootout. They blew it, they were at fault, idiots.
I have read that the only FBI/BATF folks killed, were killed by friendly fire.
And coincidently they were previously employed as body guards/state troopers in Arkansas under Clinton.
The Branch Covidians were sacrificed to eliminate a couple of witnesses, to test public response to mass murder by our own government, and to test the effectiveness of propaganda.
Koresh went into town everyday.
They could have nabbed him then.
Something else was going on.
President Clinton, the manwoman Janet Reno, are both at fault for the sacrificial burning of those children, during “ The Inteernational Year Of The Child”!
This is not the first FBI driven insanity.
It was not the last either.
And in wackie Waco, Dravidian's and the Waco Bikers fiasco.
The Fed's feel compelled to use their magnificent database, to find the answers?
Ironically, this series does not exist on netflix.
So the post is moot (it’s an ad for the series).

It is Forbidden the Federal Government. Period.
But they ignore that and do it under a different name.
One thing that came out of that atrocity though;
The presence of military armor at the Branch Davidian compound answered the question, “Will the military fire on American citizens?” once and for all.
I saw the program. Maybe a little less swagger by the ATF would have saved some lives. I don’t feel sorry for the ATF agents who are supposedly traumatized. They should have arrested koresh outside the compound when opportunity came, then go to the compound and knock on the door - with a warrant.
Oops: It’s early here. Forgot which app I was in. Also forgot whether I’d seen it.
But I did watch this series the Friday after it came out. It was just ‘ok’, but my memory is that it rubbed me the wrong way, failing to ask the right questions. In fact, it angered me.
iirc, the only revealing detail beyond what I already knew was the lack of a single command on scene. Once the negotiator was sent packing, no one else was released and, save for a handful who escaped, they all died at the hands of HRT’s actions.
But I’m not watching it again to give a detailed account of the flawed series.
Amen. Things have gotten worse not better.
The FBI is just one example of the corruption in DC.
Anyone that trusts the FBI deserves what that trust is worth.
