In hockey, fighting is an accepted part of the game. In baseball, there’s no penalty box but it’s within the unwritten rules that fighting is accepted in certain situations, most often retaliatory.
Oklahoma Christian School and Bethel High School are two schools in the greater Oklahoma City area that faced off last weekend in the Oklahoma HS baseball playoffs. Oklahoma Christian was 26-9 this season (10-1 at home) and then went on to beat Bethel 6-5 and 5-2 on May 5th and 7th, respectively.
This booted Bethel from the playoffs as Oklahoma Christian advanced to the regional finals. It was those two bitter defeats that sparked the violence below.
After Sunday’s 5-2 win, Grayson Weir of Outkick writes that ‘bad blood was spilled‘ after Oklahoma Christian’s catcher got sucker punched during the ceremonial handshake line.

True, but he’s also the guy with the most opportunity to trash-talk the other team without the whole ballpark knowing about it.
Plus, with the two teams being from OKC, this is probably not the first time these kids have met, all throughout their childhoods.
Misleading fake news headline. I was expecting to see a real major league style, bench clearing donnybrook. The kid gets sucker punched and runs away while the nearest teammate backs off like he’s encountered a wild dog and everyone else stood around trying to figure out what just happened. Kids these days...
He might have gotten ejected earlier or injured in the May 5 game.
I agree. stupid poorly trained kid though. The problem is poorly trained or not trained at all.
That should be the last time that human sets foot on the playing field. After he was escorted to jail by the authorities. But Im just old fashioned that way.
OK, this is the 3rd time I am seeing an article about this incident. In THIS article, the writer asks “what went down before this”? Yes, THAT is the question and it sure would be nice if these so called journalists got an answer to that and included it in their articles, huh?

My kids get taught that you play as hard as you can on the field but once the game is over, it is over.
