At 7, Clovis Hung was bored with second grade.
“I wanted more of a challenge,” he said.
In 2019, his mother, Song Choi, pulled him out of second grade and began homeschooling him. A year later, when he was 9, he also enrolled in Fullerton College.
“My husband and two daughters said I was crazy,” said Choi, who’s worked as a tutor for more than 20 years. “But I trust my instinct. I know he is a very unique child because he's very curious and intelligent.”
With his mom at his side, Clovis attended classes. At one point, he was taking 11 units, the maximum allowed for students in the special admit program — which provides a “taste” of college by allowing them to simultaneously enroll in classes while attending high school. The program is free for California residents.
“My mom wanted me to go with the professionals,” Clovis said Friday afternoon in between studying for his final exams. “I went to Fullerton College and took one class to try, and then I found that I liked it. So I started taking more classes.”
Now 12, Clovis is set to graduate Saturday with the 2023 class at Fullerton College — with the distinction of being the youngest person in the college’s 108-year history to receive a degree. But he’s not just receiving one.
“In the end, I will graduate with five associate degrees,” he said. “I feel really proud of myself for all three years of hard work.”
Clovis will graduate with associate of arts degrees in history, social sciences, social behavior and self-development, arts and human expression, and science and mathematics.

Well Hung ...
Maybe he’s related to Wun Long Dong.
Come back when you have five Phds. :)
In the Netflix series “inspired by” this event, Clovis Hung will be black.
Five associate degrees by age 12? Yikes. I was still figuring out how to do long division at that age!
I am very much impressed with this kid, but my impression is the Mom is pushing to make all this happen for more bragging rights. It’s fine that he’s into advanced courses, but school is about more than grades, it allows one to learn about getting along with other kinds of people, or learning to manage time efficiently.
In addition, what does this boy now have to look forward to? Is Mom picturing another Doogie Howser M.D. type prodigy in a lab coat, independently treating patients? Part of what makes childhood precious and joyous would be having fun and trying things out at your leisure. Seems like he is not allowed much downtime with
Sargeant Mom looking at her stopwatch all the time.
I wonder if this kid is a child of immigrants. I’ve taught physics to Asian kids whose parents were immigrants. Every one of them was an excellent student.
I’ve also taught later-generation Asian students. That excellence was slipping away. I guess America was starting to ruin them.

To be clear Fullerton College is a juco. Still quite an achievement. Well done Hung! But... Clovis?! Really?!
Or Won Hung Lo? Or Cum Ofsum Yungai?
Or that Asian flight crew of Ho Lee Fuk, Wi Tu Lo, and Sum Ting Wong?!
okay, big deal. Is he woke????
pffft, slacker. Doogie Howser...
Most of the really good people I know who have a PhD realize that the PhD was not worth the effort and would have been better off starting gainful employment with a master's degree. But at least they/we were smart enough to learn that. When we hear of someone with two PhDs we know that that idiot was too stupid to learn after the first one. Any more and you should be committed to a lunatic asylum.
Hint - a PhD is an official certification that you have proven you can do independent research. A second certification is unnecessary. Want to go research something else - crack the books, go to a research library and start learning and doing.
Without the word "social" in them.

Homeschooled huh should have put him in a gov’t school where could learn gang banging or trannyism
