This was discussed years ago, when Obama was president, during a previous budget battle.

Things got resolved then , so we never actually have seen a president try to invoke the 14th Amendment for these purposes.

Americans ask:

why are traitors in Poland, who burned the Constitution,
and do it every day as well, allowed to “purport” what it
means to enable their continued treason, stealing, and
destruction of this Republic??

While this interpretation is absurd on its face, it’s worth remembering the Supreme Court was recently convinced the word “sex” actually means “gender identity,” and by extension the word “woman” actually means “anyone who wants to be a woman.” Once you’ve accepted the progressive claim that language can mean anything you want it to mean, the only limits to the Constitution are the limits to your creativity.

That is a frightening concept.

I want Biden to invoke the 14th amendment. Let’s see if the main stream media defends Biden in the same way that they attacked Trump when he shifted funds to pay for more fencing on the Mexican border. Do it!

Joe Biden was balloted in as Dictator For Life, so that means he can do anything he wants. The 14th Amendment says so.

Absurd.

Why run a trial to demonstrate what you already know?

I would not be surprised if Biden does invoke the 14th amendment, from a Democratic perspective, why not try it, it would temporarily delay the issue until the Supreme Court made a ruling and the Democrats could keep on spending until a ruling has been made.

If the Supreme Court rules in their favor that would allow every President in the future to do the same thing, especially the Democratic Presidents.

If the Supreme Court shoots them down, so what we are back to where we are now.

That’s the key to everything that’s happened in the last 60 years.

Linguistic gymnastics that exploit imprecision and ambiguity in language leads to out omes that are entirely arbitrary.

Griswold, Roe, Bolton, Plyler..goes on and on.

Easy to exploit a 2 century old document written without guides to context.

Going back to Jan 6 -- the whole thing pivoted on wording in the Constitution that was interpreted in different ways. Many said that VP Pence had a mere ceremonial role and just opened envelopes. Others thought that the VP could potentially raise an issue if the nature of the election was at all questionable. That interpretation was seen as a chance to ask the States to count again, more carefully, to exclude the chance of fraud. That interpretation was seen as a sort of "why not try it, it would temporarily delay the issue until the Supreme Court made a ruling". No one had tried it before, and so a definitive judgment that "the VP has no such power" was impossible until the Supreme Court said so. They interpret Constitutional wording, and we had wording that could possibly be interpreted in a favorable way.

But Pence refused to try.

You are correct: the badly worded 14th is a time bomb in the constitution.

A president can use it to declare the right to override all checks and balances to keep America solvent. He can ignore Congress and the Supreme Court and rule by fiat.

The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law...

There it is in black and white in the 14th ammendment - the debt must be aujthorized by law.
