I'm suprised to see no mention of Joe Bonamassa thusfar. I've seen him in concert a number of times. He is amazing and fast

A few years ago, I came across a YouTube video of this young Polish guitarist, Marcin Patrzalek (Marcin). When I saw the first video, I thought it was a fake, but no, that’s really him playing in what is called “percussive fingerstyle”, somewhat like flamenco and I was blown away.

Hendrix and EVH were the first two great pioneers of electric guitar. The third, in my opinion still of course, was Yngwie Malmsteen, who combined hard rock with classical music, which then became a phenomenon of it’s own, with many other major rock bands then performing with operas as well.

One of his first tunes was Baroque and Roll:

His quintessential piece is his Concerto Suite, performed live in its entirety here:

Jascha Heifetz playing the Bach "Chaccone" without a doubt. Twelve minutes of amazing music by both J. S. Bach and Heifetz.

Not just that, but he also had an amazing stage presence and sense of comedic timing.

A lot of people do know Roy Clark, but fewer realized how great Jerry Reed was.

A worthy contender.
