sounds like me looking for a song...
I was 16 and my parents and I went to NYC for it. My uncle was with PanAm and they had a viewing party half-way up one of the Twin Towers overlooking the river with all the ships on parade. And then the fireworks show!
Later that week we took our small runabout into the harbor and cruised around the ships at anchor. It was quite the memory.
And she wraps herself around you like a well-worn tire…
I was 15.
Spent the day at my step-grandparent’s camping trailer on the banks of the Mississippi River. I remember some of the TV daily check-in coverage was of Altoona IA - and my dad commenting that most people probably thought it was rural, but it is actually Des Moines suburb.
One particular observation I had... there were no protests of any significance that day. It was then I decided that, yes, the 1960s were truly over.
You’re welcome! Glad you enjoyed it.
Most definitely, RTR:) Have a great week.
Well said.
As I stated in my original post, I was five when this aired. I’m grateful to my older sister for constantly listening to the radio and purchasing many records and 8-Tracks. Thanks to that exposure, I am familiar with songs and artists that I otherwise wouldn’t have known.
There was one song on this air check with which I wasn’t familiar. I could tell that the band was “Chicago”, but I didn’t know the song.
I am a fan of the Wrecking Crew and the Wall Of Sound production technique. “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling” may be the best Pop song ever recorded.
