James Cameron, the Oscar-winning director of “Titanic,” said on Thursday that the OceanGates’ Titan submersible that imploded underwater did so because it was not constructed out of the proper materials.
Cameron, who is considered an expert at diving and submersibles, made the remarks during interviews with ABC News and The New York Times after officials announced that they had located the debris of the vessel on the ocean floor and the five passengers on board had all died.

durrr imagine your a nut and aaaah the ocean is a nut cracker
To paraphrase General George Pickett*, I think 6 kilo-psi might have has something to do with it.
*When asked, as he often was, about the failure of his eponymous charge, he would reply, “I think the Yankees might have had something to do with it.”
The Navy KNEW on Sunday that it had IMPLODED...they HEARD it, therefore Biden KNEW it and yet they kept up the facade they might still be alive so that the Hunter story was suppressed!
There you go revealing it to the chinese.
Of course Russia makes their subs out of graham crackers.
Especially since the hull of that craft was designed by politically correct technicians, and made with paper mache and duct tape.
Designed to implode, I'm surprised that it made it down to see the Titanic before it was crushed {if it did}.
“We don’t need no stinkin’ old white men engineers!”
A story in the UK Daily Mail this morning tells the story of an American billionaire who was approached by Stockton Rush selling discounted seats on this thing. When the sales target inquired about the safety of this jerry-built mess, Rush replied “Its safer than crossing the street, safer than scuba diving, etc.”. Interesting that Rush’s company has now shut down operations - I would bet they are judgment proof and if they didn’t have insurance (highly likely) the families can sue but they won’t get much unless they can get through to his personal assets.
The stupidity of this whole thing overwhelms me. A billionaire wasnt smart enough to make sure this thing could withstand the pressure.
I dont know jack about any thing related to diving or going underwater in a submarine but even I know you had better check if it can withstand pressure.. My grandfather was in the navy during one of the Wars and they had to go through all kinds of training .
Money is the least of his worries. He should be going to jail.
Interestingly, the cheap logitech controller survived the implosion.
How much taxpayer money was squandered on the fake rescue operation?
A LOT!
A lot of people were blaming the US for the delay in getting the equipment out to search site. Then there was a question of why the company waited so long to sound the alarm
Perhaps in both cases it is because they knew what really had happened...and all of this was for show.
Of course, on the slight chance the Navy was wrong and they were really alive then it would have been a far worse PR problem that they died because of inaction
The mother of that child is going to be messed up for the rest of her life. At least she can take a small sliver of comfort in the fact that a death by implosion would have been better than the agony of suffocating to death.
“...Cameron, who is considered an expert at diving and submersibles...”
PALEEEEASE!!!! Another ‘expert’? Stop with the ‘expert’ BS, already!!
Part of the delay was that the sub company staff waited for eight hours until notifying anyone outside the group that they lost contact with this thing and until 11 Monday morning or a day afterwards to tell the Coast Guard about it. Maybe if they had some 50 year old Navy vets on their staff this thing could have been resolved sooner.
