The two-state-solution is a failure: India-Pakistan as living proof

The two-state-solution is a failure: India-Pakistan as living proof By Ezequiel Doiny ...Since the British-sponsored 1947 partition there have been 14 million refugees, 4 wars and now a dangerous nuclear race...

The India-Pakistan partition did not solve the Muslim-Hindu conflict, it made the conflict more dangerous. The creation of another Arab tyranny in Judea and Samaria will make the conflict worse. Hamas would attack Israel from Judea and Samaria as it does from Gaza. The two State Solution would endanger Israel, it would make the conflict more dangerous.

The concept of creating "two states for two peoples" was seen as the best solution by the British rulers in the 1940s. The British planned the the Israel-Jordan Partition in 1946 and India-Pakistan Partition in 1947...

The British planned the disastrous two state solution in India-Pakistan at the same time they planned Israel-Jordan Partition (1946)...

As Abbas admits the Palestinians and the Jordanians are one Arab people, the Palestinians already have a State in Jordan.

Since the UN claims the Arab-Israeli conflict can be solved though a UNSC resolution why not submit one declaring that Jordan is Palestine?

Declaring Jordan is Palestine takes a myopic view of the situation on the ground. Say you have a nice, gated neighborhood full of law abiding, employed and wealthy citizens. A little further away is a ghetto full of Chicago-esque gang bangers. You decide to merge the neighborhoods to solve the gang banger problem. It’s pretty easy to see where that would end up. It’s the same situation with Jordan and the non-functional “Palestinian” area.

India Pakistan seems to be doing okay lately. I know they are not buddies, but the border seems stable.

The problem with the “two state” solution, in both cases, is it leaves one state purged of non-Muslims, while the other state retains a large minority of Muslims.

For it to work, then ALL Muslims would need to be expelled to the Muslim state, with NO importation of Muslim workers. And that won’t happen.

So, we are looking to eliminate folks based on religion again?

When their religion demands that we either submit or die, then yes.

The same intolerant side is at fault in both of these instances. This isn’t in question.

The India-Pakistan partition did not solve the Muslim-Hindu conflict, it made the conflict more dangerous.

And with as many Hindus and Muslims who have moved to Britain, this conflict will ultimately engulf Britain.

India - Pakistan is a 3 state solution. Bangladesh is the former East Pakistan.

The problem with India - Pakistan in Kashmir is that the Brits screwed up the partition by including a majority Muslim province in India because it had a Hindu Maharaja.

Like I said, it will not work if there remains a hefty minority of Muslims in the non-Muslim state. The Muslim minority will just grow until there is a new crisis a generation later, which will create a demand for a NEW “two state solution” to divide the non-Muslim majority state. Meanwhile non Muslims will be driven out of any Muslim majority state, as is happening in Nigeria and elsewhere.

The reason it won’t work is because of people like you, who demand fairness be extended to people who will not reciprocate.

You ready to convert to Islam?

I doubt anyone really claims a UN resolution will solve anything, but since a UN resolution did a lot to create Israel, what's the objection to the UN doing the same thing for a Palestinian state on the West Bank?

Jordan is the Palestinian state.

Let them migrate to Jordan.

Just like Gaza used to be part of Egypt, so Gaza Muslims should have the right to return to their native country.

India Pakistan seems to be doing okay lately.

The author of the article is 100% right. The carve-out of Pakistan has done nothing positive for the world or for the people who live in what are now India and Pakistan.

You could make a very sound case that if Pakistan had never been created, several wars could have been avoided, including our involvement in both Afghanistan and Iraq over the last two decades. Thousands of people who died in Pakistan, India in their wars and thousands who died in the US in the 9/11 attacks would most likely be alive today. North Korea and Iran would not have nuclear weapons, since Pakistan was their source for nuclear secrets. I'm sure I'm missing some other things.

We should have given the Kurds their own state in Iraq as one Senator Biden advocated. We had the chance. It would lead to fighting in Turkey, Syria, and Iran, all of which have significant Kurdish populations. Moozlems fighting amongst themselves keeps them away from the west. Kurdistan would have the oil as well as the fighters. All we needed was to give them weapons. I sometimes wonder how things would turn out if the Kurdish leaders would have been willing to recognize Israel.

Self determination is freedom. You’ve got to break a few eggs to make an omelette.

Without partition, there would have been a civil war, and a form of Pakistan would have emerged anyway.

Jordan is the Palestinian state.

Just saying that isn't very convincing.

Look up what the West Bank was part of before 1967.

Look up TransJordan

The problem is that the Hindus didn't want to live under a caliph and muslims didn't want to live under Hindu rule. The Brits knew this better than anyone else. They had run the place for 130 years.
