Traffic was stopped on the Russian-built Crimean Bridge due to "an emergency" situation, Russia-installed officials said on Monday, while Ukrainian media reported blasts on the bridge.

Sergei Aksyonov, a Russian-installed governor, said the emergency occurred on the 145th pillar of the bridge which links the Crimean peninsula to the Russian region of Krasnodar.

The first 20 seconds of Alex Christoforou's video from Moscow today showed a video of the damaged lane taken from a moving train.

Boy. Spending munitions just to damage a structure that will do no good strategically.
That is real smart.
Tells us how well educated the Ukie military geniuses are.
Anybody now think they wouldnt use a nuclear weapon if they got their hands on one?

They had nuclear weapons. They surrendered them in return for security guarantees from Britain, the U.S. and Russia. Good to know whom you can trust.

Northern resupply route - dangerous.
Southern supply route safer.

Your comment is nonsensical. This is Russia’s link with Crimea and is vital.
With all the missiles and drones being fired in this war (thousands) why do we have folks like you showing up to “educate” us that the Ukrainians were wasting munitions.
I mean, this gets silly.

Whether they intended it or not, Ukes have caused massive traffic jams due to Russian civilians panicking and trying to
leave Crimea via the highways on the Azov Sea shore.

If they’re really smart, Ukes will launch a massive offensive tonight to take advantage of Russian reserves being blocked by the traffic jams. If not, this strike was just dumb luck, won’t affect any outcomes, and will simply induce a massive Russian retaliatory missile strike.

Why will it do no good?
Interdiction is cumulative.
It makes the enemy work that much harder to repair infrastructure and maintain supply levels.

Ten points why the Crimean bridge is of ultra-high strategic importance for Ukraine:

1)
Military Implications: The Crimean Bridge enables Russia to rapidly move military personnel, equipment, and supplies between mainland Russia and Crimea, enhancing its military presence in the region. This poses potential security threats to Ukraine, especially along its eastern border.

2)
Economic Impact: Before the annexation, Crimea was an important tourism and agricultural region for Ukraine. The bridge’s construction by Russia limits Ukraine’s ability to access and develop these economic resources, affecting the country’s overall economic growth and stability.

3)
Infrastructure Control: By controlling the bridge, Russia has the ability to restrict or regulate maritime traffic passing through the Kerch Strait, affecting Ukraine’s access to the Sea of Azov and its eastern ports, such as Mariupol and Berdiansk.

4)
Humanitarian Concerns: The bridge’s presence hampers Ukraine’s ability to provide humanitarian assistance to the people living in Crimea, many of whom are ethnic Ukrainians facing human rights challenges under Russian control.

5)
Energy Supply: Ukraine relies on the transport of energy resources, such as natural gas, through pipelines in Crimea. The Crimean Bridge disrupts these transportation routes, potentially leading to energy shortages or increased costs for Ukraine.

6)
Regional Balance of Power: The bridge strengthens Russia’s influence in the Black Sea region and expands its military capabilities. This shift in the regional balance of power could impact Ukraine’s security and stability.

7)
Strategic Positioning: Control over the Crimean Bridge allows Russia to project power beyond the Crimean Peninsula, potentially enabling further military operations in Ukraine or other neighboring countries.

8)
Psychological Warfare: The construction of the Crimean Bridge is seen by many Ukrainians as a constant reminder of Russia’s presence and dominance in Crimea, which can have psychological effects on the population and the overall national sentiment.

9)
International Perception: The Crimean Bridge’s existence raises questions about the legality and legitimacy of Russia’s actions in Crimea. It keeps the issue of Crimea in the international spotlight, enabling Ukraine to seek diplomatic support and put pressure on Russia to de-escalate tensions.

10)
Symbolic Value: The Crimean Bridge serves as a symbol of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and its aspiration to regain control over Crimea, which was annexed by Russia. Its presence reinforces the Ukrainian government’s position on the issue.

By the way, this is war.

Many Ukrainians still remember the Holodomor starvation period Russia imposed that killed millions of Ukrainians, all civilians.

Both bridges (rail and vehicle) are valid military targets in the war that Russia has started.
