WELLSVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ) A Rush Hill woman was arrested and charged after allegedly causing about $6,000 worth of damage to a Montgomery County cornfield.
Heather Marie Garnett, 30, is charged with causing more than $1,000 of crop loss and leaving the scene of an accident that caused more than $1,000 of property damage. She was arrested and placed on a 24-hour hold at the Montgomery County Jail, according to the probable cause statement.
A criminal summons was issued Tuesday and an initial court appearance is set for 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22.
Garnett allegedly drove her 2007 Chevy Tahoe on Saturday into a cornfield off Route AA near Red Barn Road and did donuts in the field, according to the probable cause statement. She allegedly ran away and went back to the field on Sunday morning to pick up her truck.
The investigation led to Garnett’s residence, where she allegedly stepped outside when deputies arrived and admitted to causing the damage, the statement says. She allegedly told deputies that she would pay for the corn and that she had $500 to give to the farmer. Garnett also allegedly told deputies she was intoxicated.
Garnett is currently on unsupervised probation after pleading guilty to a DWI charge in January.
Probly seemed like a good idea at the time.
This has the sentence structure of my 4 year old grandson.
30 ??
Yeah, pretty messed up ruining crops for fun and games. The corn grows back so I’d probably dish out 5 days in the pokey plus reimbursement of losses to the farmer.
Was probably pretty fun
Oooh. Maybe we’ve discovered how crop circles are actually created.
(I’ve never believed the ‘Doug and Dave’ story anyway...)
Party Gyrl...
That phrase; “Doing donuts in the cornfield”, sounds like a euphemism for something else, something highly inappropriate.
But sometimes, a donut is just a donut.
Growing corn for auto fuel is probably not right....
I knew there was a simple explanation for crop circles. It’s not UFOs. It’s DWIs.
Runnin thru stubble fields and jumping terraces in the snow is great fun.
Doing it right before harvest is a poke in the eye. Plus she admitted to being drunk, obviously didnt learn nothing from her previous brush with law enforcement.
Yep. I had my wife look at and read the article and we both thought she was approaching 50.
Meth is a heck of a drug.
I’d like to get Donut’s side of the story.
Now charge Chris Christie.
"Did somebody say 'Donuts'?"
Never been on a farm huh?
That area is ruined. At 200 bushels to the acre and I’d say at least two to three acres plus triple damages..
Just get the prices per bushel as of today..or when the crop was to be harvested and figure it out.
