Costly mandatory upgrades and outright bans can not save money and will not save the Earth.

It’s non of the government’s business how much savings I get. I live in a state that sits on one of the largest natural gas reserves in the world. Gas is cheap and it could be cheaper. My furnace, water heater and dryer use natural gas. During summer when the furnace doesn’t run my gas bill is under $30/month. Part of the bill is fees and taxes. I cook two hot meals per day, wash dishes, clothes and take showers once a month whether I need one or not. 😂 My natural gas bill is one bill I don’t complain about.
The U.S. Constitution does not give ANY power to the federal government to tell people what they can buy or sell.

Likely the issue is polling leading up to next year’s election. They discovered the gas stove ban was unpopular in some of their key voter groups such as suburban women. They also discovered it would be a good campaign attack for the GOP.
What is being billed in the press as a retreat, is really a postponement. After the 2024 election, watch the bureaucracy reinstate the gas stove ban. The politicians will have 2 years for the public to forget about it before they face the voters again. Notice the incandescent bulb ban didn’t get a whimper from the public.
