It seems like the Ron DeSantis “reboot” is placing its bets on a somewhat risky scenario: the prospect of President Trump ending up behind bars, rendering him incapable of campaigning. That’s what a recent report from NeverTrumper’s at The Bulwark claims. According to the report, the DeSantis Super PAC “Never Back Down” is taking a strategic approach, gearing up for a potential delegate battle should President Trump face legal challenges that will render him unable to go on.

"And let’s be honest, after getting schlonged by a man under multiple federal indictments in the first few contests, the remaining candidates might figure there’s no point in getting out to preserve dignity that, by that point, would be long gone.
I don’t expect that we live in the beautiful timeline where Trump rots in jail while his sycophants fight on the convention floor. But it would be about par for the course for the sweet dream of this possibility to freeze a fragmented field—and help him coast to a third nomination."
If your hope is to jail your political opponent in order to 'win', you're a scumbag.
if Trump is behind bars
do you think Trump would have to campaign
to win support
If President Trump is not on the ballot, there is no reason to vote again. Ever.
“If President Trump is not on the ballot, there is no reason to vote again. Ever.”
It’s sure looking that way, isn’t it? :(
Not surprising given who’s behind it.
FLASHBACK: Ted Cruz Campaign Manager - Who is Jeff Roe? (he’s been called “scum of the earth”)

“piece of ***t”, a “creep”, “no ethics”, “soul-less” … among a plethora of other pejoratives.
Let’s examine the man behind Ted Cruz’s campaign (and Ron DeSantis’ 2024 campaign.)
Democrats thank you.
It’s not surprising at all to me that Ron DeSantis’s campaign is being run by the same campaign people that ran Ted Cruz’s campaign. Republican, voter see this and that’s why I DeSantis is not gaining any traction. We’re tired of the big money that finances Republicans to “lose gracefully” for fun and profit.
If the Republican Party does not clean up its act then it will be time for a new party. The Republican Party may die just like the Whig Party died due to not listening to its voters.
RDS’s road to the White House includes Trump as partner and/or VP, since he won’t win without Trump’s voters and support.
He could/should campaign as a supportive Trump lite and either become VP or step in if DjT is incarcerated.
Get on the team now, cuz’ ‘28 is no guarantee. Think Scott Walker and consider Glenn Youngkin, or others.
Donald Trump is a draft dodger. He wants government takeover of healthcare. He used his $$$ influence to try to get an old widow kicked out of her house by imminent domain. He supports MANY liberals with his donations. He is a foul mouthed reprobate. SO HE IS THE PERFECT CANDIDATE FOR YOU.

That account is suspended. But you have to wonder what handle the person/people are posting under now.
The Whig Party died because its supporters disagreed over slavery. The Republican Party may die because supporters of the party do not agree over the retention of American sovereignty and individual freedom in the context of a new world order.
I’ve stated before that I don’t believe the Democrats will let Trump on the ballot. I know they don’t have that authority but that never stops them. They’ll just announce he’s an “insurrectiony traitor!” and simply keep him off the ballot, no matter what his legal status is. They control enough of the election machinery to get it done in most, if not all, states.
If they do this Trump will rage, as he should, but will have no power to stop them. The GOP will pretend to fume but will only write letters and hold hearings. Some will even openly agree with the Dems. The SC will announce that this is not their remit and will defer to congress. In short, no cavalry is coming
If that happens, whose name goes on the Republican ballot line?
This article is pure speculation forecasting a specific ending when there are still countless ways this could play out.
The only thing we know (or should know for those in denial) is that the first primary states are still 6+ months away, and DeSantis isn’t going anywhere in the short term.
If you want to guess what might happen with Trump, between now and the convention, good luck.
“Democrats thank you.”
As does Soros & Schwab and every ChiCom on the planet.
Wooah. I can’t even imagine ever feeling that way about a politician. They come, they go. By the time they go, they’ve usually either gone crooked or been exposed as one all along.
I hope you read post 16, it’s directed at people like you.
*******
Pretty good assessment imo. Times change over the course
our life span. It has been that way since this earth has had
humans on it. Just look at the change on the portion called
the USA and the changes to it since Columbus sailed in 1492.
I don’t want to see Trump jailed. It would be horrible not only for him, but for the country, and especially Republicans. But I know that the behavior he’s exhibiting isn’t helping prevent that. That’s why a lot of people like him though. The way he acts like the rules of the world don’t apply to him. Larger than life, Teflon Don, and all that. But to the enemy, that just makes them more determined to take him out. And so far, unfortunately, they’re the ones actually winning the battle.
