The Florida governor's gaffe came moments after he told an audience: 'We will get the job done and I will not let you down.'
But DeSantis' subsequent bid to galvanize his vow with a confident smile went badly-awry, when he slowly pulled a bizarre grin that was branded rictus and fake.
(Democrat strategist) Edwards, who was heard giving a shocked guffaw at the sight of DeSantis, captioned his tweet: 'The delay of him trying to smile is insane???'

there is a link to a tweet that shows his attempt to smile, but you should kill the volume before playing it
No WONDER Paulie and Mitch like Ron so much!
He also was copying Cruz’s trick from 2016 of staring straight at the camera for every answer.
And it also looked like he was intensely gripping the podium almost the whole time.
Bow post something about Rama swampy.
Black out a front tooth and it’s “What, me worry?” time.
I’m a Trump supporter but it’s really not right to make fun of a person’s appearance, their smile, or their orange hair. Many of us would like to change something about our appearance, but we cannot. I watched a movie with an older Liam Neesen. He was serious throughout the drama. With a happy ending, he smiled - big mistake.
I wanna know when gel-hair boy is going to support Trump and help him with the attacks against him. So far, gel boy tells us we are “Listless Vessels”. His help for Trump is listless and an empty vessel. He sits there hoping Trump is removed by the left as though he won’t be next. Either gel-boy is with us or against us and so far he hasn’t been with us. He gives us syntactic sugar then claims he is better than Trump.
He seems to be turning into the Edsel of politics.
Well, I agree with you there, as far as it goes. I certainly wouldn't want to be judged on my appearance, that's for sure.
The problem with DeSantis, however, is that he's fake. Look, if he's most comfortable maintaining a serious demeanor, and smiling doesn't come naturally, or easily, to him, then so be it. He should just go with that. But he doesn't. Rather, his political handlers are telling him that, to be successful, he needs to be doing this or that thing, and DeSantis goes along with it.
I should imagine that, at this point, people are sick to death of fake pols pretending to be something they're not. That DeSantis himself doesn't realize that says "loser" to me.
It’s like when a kid is uncomfortable at some assembly at school and they see their mom in the audience mouthing “smile” to them and they awkwardly try to comply. Except with DeSantis it’s probably his wife that made him do it.
I don’t care if the next president smiles, as long as he isn’t a dem and gets the job done.
Before DeSantis made the miscalculation of going against Trump, I liked him. I spent the summer of 2020 in FL and applaud him for trying to keep the state as open as possible.
I even hoped for a while that the Trump/DeSantis thing was staged and they would come together for the ticket.
I was wrong, and that isn’t happening.
I have two thought about August 2023 DeSantis:
1) I would bet a weeks salary he is on Ozempic or a similar GLP-1 drug. He has lost too much weight too fast. Good for him, but I would rather he was honest and say “I’m prediabetic bc of my weight and I needed to make a change.”
2) The smile is creepy and it reminds me of Sheldon Cooper trying to fake smile on The Big Bang Theory
“And it also looked like he was intensely gripping the podium almost the whole time.”
Common for nervous public speakers. Holding on to something makes you feel more solid, but it’s a sign of lack of confidence. He doesn’t really want to be up there.
Body language analysis is a booming field and each of the candidates will be completely dissected and every tic, smile, wrinkle, and unnatural hair curl or color will be analyzed ad nauseam.
And rightly so. Politics is war by other means (nod to von Clausewitz who put it inversely--"War is politics by...").
In fact, maybe its better if he doesn’t smile since he has a lot messes to clean up & serious business to take care of with adversaries domestic & foreign.
My impressions of Rob from the debate...
Many will have seen Rob for the first time.
He wore an ill-fitting suit
Looked short, even with boots.
Had a hard time being personable.
I see why they remind him to be likeable.
Has little warmth or personality.
Has a strange voice - can’t put my finger on who it reminds me of...
Didn’t look presidential.
They all where bad, the little rama pepsweak, the worst.
Fox was building up viek, by the way.
Pathetic little snipes like this only reinforce how AWESOME DeSantis did last night.
No wonder Trump and his fans are so terrified of him, he is the future.
Trump’s little Obama protege Rswampy is who deserves to ridiculed.
