But here on Free Republic, we are supposed to hate the Bushes. And that hatred is supposed to override everything favorable you just said.

Compare the state of the country years ago to that today. People are patriotic in inverse proportion to how badly their government treats them.
As of the last census, only 6% of the entire current population of the US has ever served in the military.
I give him credit for his military service but it ends there. Back in 92 I supported him and had a yard sign up and some old guy about 5 houses down stopped one day and asked where I got the sign and said he wanted one, that he had met Bush in WWII. He was on the submarine and helped pull him out of the water. I thanked him for his service and handed him my sign and said I’ll get another one.
That being said Bush threw away Reagan’s gift of a vibrant booming country for the same old liberal BS the Republican party loves so much.
I know plenty of pilots. I know plenty of guys who went to flight school who did not make it through. I know they did not “just pass” guys through the courses because of their Dads. People get killed for stupid decisions like that. Did marginal scores get passed? Maybe. But not “unqualified.”
